NVIDIA GeForce NOW RTX 3080 tier is getting a 1-month subscription option - briefly|
| (hx) 03:49 PM CET - Feb,25 2022 | | The RTX 3080 tier that enables longer game sessions (up to 8 hours) and higher quality streams are getting a shorter subscription plan. The RTX 3080 tier offers 1440p resolution at 120 FPS and it is supported up to 4K resolution when attached to NVIDIA Shield TV. Under its Priority GeForce Now tier, NVIDIA was forced to limit the framerate on select titles due to insufficient service optimizations. NVIDIA team worked closely with game developers and has since eliminated this problem, which at the time limited the framerate to as low as 45 FPS in some games. This problem does not affect the RTX 3080 tier which is based on a different cloud GPU hardware. The current membership options do not include a monthly subscription for RTX 3080 Tier. The 6-month membership costs 99 USD which converts into 16.67 USD per month. With that in mind, one would expect RTX 3080 tier to become more expensive than the 1-Month tier (possibly at 20 USD/month). Late stage capitalism at it's finest! |

| gx-x | (02:12 PM CET - Feb,26 2022 ) | it's an obvious "let's continue to sell cards to miners and scalpers, we will rent them to kids that now cannot afford them"
It's just a big fat NO from me, I'd rather buy a new console and pay for game passes than pay anything to nVidia or AMD as long as they keep doing what they are doing. Let's see how they do when they realize that another HUGE wave of second hand cards is coming their way, from their beloved scalpers and miners alike.

this all is definitely going to shoot back at them, to a point where the 4080 will get cheaper than the 3080 was at launch. Not only does crypto continue to fall, but the new chips are bigger and more power-hungry - no innovation at all. No shit Sherlock that the 4080 can be considered twice as powerful than the 3080 when it consumes twice as much power and the die is bigger even though a smaller process is being used ... Intel around the corner is going to capitalize big time on these fuck-ups
| lorcro2000 | (10:06 AM CET - Feb,28 2022 ) | Pricey? Sure.
I paid $2500 for my gaming rig. That's over TEN YEARS of using Geforce Now.
I have no regrets, and I get a better experience overall, but Geforce Now is still a pretty compelling option for people who don't care about messing around with hardware and trying to find a ludicrously expensive GPU.
