Amazon Alexa asked a 10-year old to perform a shocking TikTok challenge - tech
(hx) 09:40 PM CET - Dec,28 2021
If you are somewhat acquainted with TikTok and other social media platforms, you are probably aware of certain trendy (and often weird) challenges that go viral as they are performed and filmed by millions of users. One such dangerous act was the "outlet challenge" that broke out last year. In this, a person needed to plug in a phone charger about halfway into a wall outlet, and then touch a penny to the exposed prongs Unfortunately, Amazon's Alexa picked it up while scouring the web and proposed this challenge to a 10-year-old kid, writes the child's mother, Kristin Livdahk, on Twitter. Alexa said: "Here’s something I found on the web. According to ourcommunitynow.com: The challenge is simple: plug in a phone charger about halfway into a wall outlet, then touch a penny to the exposed prongs"

The issue has now been fixed according to a statement the company offered to media outlet indy100:
Customer trust is at the center of everything we do and Alexa is designed to provide accurate, relevant, and helpful information to customers. As soon as we became aware of this error, we took swift action to fix it.
However, incidents like these demonstrate the potential dangers of what non-curated aggregation of internet information can mean to users. Thankfully the child's parent was present close by or else the situation could have turned ugly.

Why on earth a 10 year old would even think to ask ‘computer’ for a TikTok challenge, shows how dangerous children have become. This is the sort of thing the kid has clearly looked up on a mobile - that she probably has- and isn’t as innocent as it makes out. Alexa, like them all, is just a Google voice assistance for the internet. It’s not got feelings or awareness. The parents are to blame though as usual. No doubt they didn’t put anything up when the kid ordered stuff from Amazon that it shouldn’t have….

I cant believe people are so stupid to do those "challenges" anyway. They are all stupid and just show how stupid people are.
Many people have died from doing the really stupid ones like this one, the thing is there are actually people that do them. How stupid do you have to be to know if you did this one you will most likely die but people still do it.

This is as stupid as believing the covid vax is safe and will help you. LOL, have to be a complete moron to believe that. I guess if you have then you will happily do this challenge.

That’s got exactly, “what” to do with the subject of idiotic morons doing idiotic things that endanger themselves and others lives? Oh I see it now, it’s the anti-vaxxers that are in the 13 out of 16 critical care hospitals now and then whining that they want the jab while on their death/ill beds. Then the hilarious part is when the nurse says; “sorry, your too late and you need to ride it out or die”. That’s the best part. But how can you convert the converted idiot? Well some countries are just doing that because employers are no longer paying sick pay to unvaccinated and instead forcing them to use their own A/L. Or just sacking them and prepared to take the legal route while the rest of their staff are vaccinated.
Yeah, “idiots” indeed.
