The Nintendo PlayStation Prototype Is Now Functional - console|
| (hx) 10:19 AM CEST - May,08 2017 | In the early 90’s Nintendo and Sony had been planning a collaboration where the two companies would work on building a new console together. The console prototype was made to play cartridge-based games as well as discs. The deal went south quickly though in what could have been a, literally, game-changing partnership between Sony and Nintendo. Most if not all of the prototypes were destroyed by Sony, and the original PlayStation became the product of the fallout between the two companies. Tech buff Benjamin Heckendorn recently released a video on his channel showcasing that same console prototype in action. Initially the prototype did not have a working disc drive, albeit the console did power on. Heckendorn has fixed the console’s previously inactive disc drive, and he showed himself playing some emulator games on the rare device, since no games were developed for it.
