TechNews - Galaxy Note 6 Features Leaked - tech
(hx) 09:51 PM CEST - Jun,04 2016
  • GTX 1080 Founders Edition Fan Issue To Be Fixed With Next Driver - The fan would start spinning up and down for no particular reason. It revs up from 2000 RPM to 3000 RPM no matter the temperature or software being used at that time. Those who considered returning their cards, may want to wait few more days, as NVIDIA has reportedly found the solution and the problem should will be fixed with the next driver release. NVIDIA rep confirmed that software team was able to reproduce this problem, and their fix has already passed internal testing. The next driver should be released next week, shortly before GTX 1070 becomes available (10th June).
  • Leaked Galaxy Note 6 (Note 7?) - curved edges,USB Type-C, iris - uSwitch has managed to get its hands on what it claims are leaked blueprints of Samsung's next flagship handset. What it reveals is a device that'll look almost identical to the Galaxy S7 Edge, complete with curved edges. The key difference, of course, is the slot for the stylus.  The blueprints also reveal that Samsung is ditching the standard USB port in favor of a USB Type-C port, a welcomed move on a high-end device as it enables faster transfers and charging. A series of sensors above the display suggest the phone may feature a biometric iris scanner that would let users unlock their handset simply by looking at it.  In related news, serial leaker Evan Blass of @evleaks says Samsung is on track to unveil the next Note smartphone almost two months from now, or in early August. If true, that would be even earlier than the Note 5's debut on August 13 of last year and give Samsung more time on the market ahead of Apple's next iPhone.
  • Samsung Giving Away Gear VR to Galaxy S Buyers - Samsung said it will give a Gear VR headset to people who buy one of its Galaxy S smartphones between now and June 19. The qualifying handsets include the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy Note 5. Consumers who buy one of these phones from a participating retailer (carrier stores, Best Buy, CostCo, Sam's Club, Target, Walmart) can submit a claim form and Samsung will ship the headset. Samsung says the device must be purchased on an installment plan, purchased with a contract, leased, or bought outright to qualify for the offer. Samsung says it has 600,000 Gear VR headsets to give away. If more than 600,000 people submit claim forms, Samsung may choose to reward people with a $100 gift card to Samsung.com.
  • Facial Recognition Will Soon End Your Anonymity - Soon anybody with a high-resolution camera and the right software will be able to determine your identity. That's because several technologies are converging to make this accessible. Recognition algorithms have become far more accurate, the devices we carry can process huge amounts of data, and there's massive databases of faces now available on social media that are tied to our real names. As facial recognition enters the mainstream, it will have serious implications for your privacy.
  • Google Now On Tap Lets You Search Selected Text and Images - Google has announced an update to its Now On Tap feature for devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Moving forward, users will be able to highlight the exact set of text they'd like to search via Now On Tap. Users can select single words, or sentences, paragraphs, and entire pages for search. Image search is another useful new feature. When viewing any image in any app, users can long press the home button to call up info cards about whatever is in the image. This tool also works when using the camera app. Users can search for whatever is visible in the camera viewfinder. This last feature sort of brings back Google's old Goggles visual search tool. People who have devices with Android 6.0 Marshmallow need only update their Google Search app to make use of these new features.
  • KFC to Accept Android, Apple, and Samsung Pay - KFC said its U.S restaurants will soon support Android Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay. Some stores will accept the three mobile payment services beginning today, and KFC expects all stores to support Android Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay by the end of the summer. KFC's deployment is notable in that it supports multiple services at once. Android Pay and Apple Pay require NFC-equipped retail terminals, while Samsung Pay can use NFC- and MST-based terminals. KFC said it will accept mobile payments at the drive-thru as well as in-store. The deployment is part of a series of investments that KFC is making to improve its stores.
  • Court: No Warrant Needed to Pull Carrier-Based Location Data - A U.S. appeals court said law enforcement does not need to obtain a warrant before obtaining location data from wireless network operators. Today's decision stems from an appeal based on a Baltimore case involving armed robberies from 2011. Citing a decades-old idea suggesting consumers routinely allow their phone service provider to know their location, the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, reversed a divided opinion from last year. The majority (12-3) opinion held that "Anyone who has stepped outside to 'get a signal,' or has warned a caller of a potential loss of service before entering an elevator, understands, on some level, that location matters." A ruling last year from the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court agreed that no warrant is needed. The Supreme Court has refused to review similar cases. A lawyer for the ACLU argued that the matter has not been finalized by the courts.

The card seems to suck at DX12 performance, so think before you jump on the vagon.

Catching up to MS, heh?
MS had it for 3-4 years - I wonder what took so long for Google, usually they are the ones with the useful stuff...

Apparently, Google have not learned anything from Terminator.
You can only postpone it.
So, instead of fighting the obvious, be smart and do it right from the start.

Nope. I am going for a knock-off, done paying absurd prices for phones and tired of getting a $0 phone that is already dead in terms of community and said company support. I am getting a clone phone from China. Already seen a bunch of them, including the dual sim phones. All are rooted and unlocked and no BS and in terms of display and power you'd never know.

For example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvHN5P1fu7o
