Star Citizen Free Fly Week - briefly|
| (hx) 07:22 AM CET - Mar,14 2016 | This news post on the Roberts Space Industries website covers the release of a new version 2.2.alpha patch for Star Citizen, and announces that another free fly week is underway to allow folks to check out the current state of the upcoming space combat game.
On the fence about Star Citizen? Why not give it a try and see what we're building! For the next week, we've enabled Free Fly access to all accounts… FOR EVERY CURRENTLY FLYABLE SHIP IN THE GAME OO-AH-AH-AH-AH! This means that anyone can jump in to Star Citizen Alpha 2.2.2 today and fly limited ships like the Scythe, Mustang Omega, and more! The Free Fly event gives everyone access to three unique parts of the Star Citizen experience:
- Star Citizen Alpha 2.2.2 - Also known as Crusader or the 'mini-PU,' this is the nucleus of the world we're building! Featuring multiple space stations and environments, scripted missions, places to explore and more, Alpha 2.2.2 is your first look at a much larger universe!
- Arena Commander – Arena Commander is a ‘game within a game' that we've used to develop our flight mechanics and ship combat balance. Take on human opponents or an AI swarm in single seat fighter.
- Social Module – Interact with other players while you explore our first landing zone, ArcCorp! The Social Module is intended as a starting point for our world building,
You can register for an account here to get started. If you already have an account from a previous Free Fly, you're all set! Just log in via the Star Citizen launcher. This is the first Free Fly that includes Crusader, so there’s more to explore than ever before. For the next week. Free Fly accounts will have access every ship currently available in the game.

Fucking UFOs
You have to understand that if they can't get a simple thing as a unique ID right, then their game design will suck just as bad. Probably explains the need for 100GB.

No its just a big game with a lot of stuff. And realistically, lots of games are about 100GB. Check your BF, Garys Mod, Sims... You're just whining

Are you serious comparing a 90s game? And wasn't it Frontier Elite? Think coding languages for one and vastily improved gfx/textures and compilers. Seriously get real gx-x, csimbi is just bored and being a whiny bitch.

No, just as an architect I feel obliged that I have to protest this fuckup

Tom can't even install ad-aware without fucking up his computer and blaming it on drivers, so don't expect him to understand what internationalization is.

Apart from visual differences, Elite Frontier/ Frontier Elite, please, don't nitpick :) (there was Elite I and Elite II before it) had more content compared to Star Citizen in this state. Also, a 100GB game is a rarity...for now. :)

So let me get this straight...
They're currently allowing people brief access to everything their alpha has now - space sim functionality with multiple playable models, multiple bases, missions, explorable planetary zone, FPS (not their alleged Star Marine thing, but basic PVP combat zone), yadda yadda - free for a week, and you're pitching a fit and refusing over their website naming???
I'm no fanboy/backer (I leave that to others in my family - I've been rather critical of RSI while maintaining low expectations from this as a space sim fan) but that's gotta be the lamest thing I've come across in a while - like someone going to a store and saying "Oh, I don't like the design of the entrance floormat, so not gonna bother looking at the products".... You don't really think that the people responsible for programming/coding their game are the same ones in charge of coding their website, do you?
Besides, there's no shortage whatsoever of good services and products with terrible websites out this in the vastness of the World Wide Web...

It has nothing to do with website naming.
It has everything to do with a finite number of combinations of US ASCII.

Is anyone else complaining about this? don't see too much about it. I only see you.
And 100GB will eventually be a norm for games, especially like this one that is really like 2 or 3 games in 1. 3-4TB drives will soon become 30-40TB. This progression has been happening throughout the evolution of PC and gaming...More specifically in light of this game I'd say its them having compressed vs non-compressed content. There are a lot of dumb reasons for games to get this big too, piracy being one. People will be more reluctant, or limited to being able to download this much.

Well, I was going to try it.
Either nobody wants a unique callsign or has problem creating one, nobody wants to sign up or nobody bothers commenting on that.
| gx-x | (01:13 AM CET - Mar,17 2016 ) | | I don't think many people care for this game. All that care already bought into it. | |
