TechNews - MacBook with a 12-inch Retina - tech|
| (hx) 11:03 PM CET - Mar,14 2015 |
- Apple announces new MacBook with a 12-inch Retina display -
Apple has announced the new 12-inch MacBook with Retina display. The
new MacBook is being marketed as the thinnest and lightest Mac ever.
The 12-inch notebook weighs just two pounds and is incredibly thin at
just 13.1mm. The star of the show though, is no doubt the 12-inch
Retina display. The Retina panel comes with a resolution of 2304 x
1440, giving it a pixel density of 226 PPI. The display is the thinnest
display Apple has ever used on a notebook and is also claimed to be
highly efficient with a claimed 30 percent lower power consumption than
Retina displays on the MacBook Pro models.

Laptop - The 10TB SMR HelioSeal HDD will be shipping out
later this year to selected servers running special software.
- BenQ BL3201PT 32-inch Ultra HD Monitor Tested -
Superb image and build quality, excellent out-of-box
color, grayscale
and gamma accuracy, IPS screen, low input lag, slick OSD controller,
breaks the $1000 street price barrier. No wide-gamut option, average
contrast. Overall, this is the first 4K screen I've seen that seems
reasonable in terms of price, performance, size, and image quality.
- Google unveils its new Chromebook Pixel notebook, starting
from $999 - Google has unveiled its
second-generation Chromebook Pixel - and it's a
good deal cheaper than its predecessor. The new Pixel starts at $999,

- Microsoft's Patch Tuesday Details - Five updates
(four for Windows and one for Office) are rated Critical. The
remaining nine are rated Important, all for Windows except for a lone
Exchange Server patch. In related news, the KB3033929 is causing a reboot loop for a fair
number of Windows 7 users,
according to postings on multiple help forums. The update in question
does not appear to address a pressing security vulnerability, so users
who have not yet installed it should probably delay doing
so until Microsoft straightens things out.
- Apple Watch Edition - Gold - The 18-karat
gold developed for Apple Watch Edition is up to twice as hard as
standard gold.
- iOS 8.2 Includes Apple Watch App and Bug Fixes - Apple

which is available to the iPhone beginning today. The new operating
system from Apple includes a specific app for managing and controlling
the Apple Watch, which goes on sale next month. The Apple Watch can run
apps and be used to manage notifications, make calls, send and receive
emails or messages, control music playback, and much more. The Apple
Watch Sport edition starts at $349 for the 38mm size and $399 for the
42mm size. The Apple Watch edition, with a stainless steel face and
various bands, ranges between $549 and $1,049 for the 38mm size and the
from $599 to $1,099 for the 42mm size. The Apple Watch Edition, which
is made from gold, starts at $10,000. Preorders begin April 10, with
the device reaching select stores and markets April 24. Apple didn't
detail what bug fixes are included in iOS 8.2
- Unindexed - An online community that deletes itself - Unindexed
is an online community that anyone can contribute to; it runs a
back-end process that continuously scours Google for signs that it has
been indexed, and securely erases itself once it discovers evidence of
same. It's a cute art project (as opposed to a cute engineering
project, which would have just used a robots.txt file to stop Google
from indexing it altogether), and apparently included some kind of
artistic statement of purpose that was nuked, along with the rest of
the site, when Google indexed it 22 days in.
- FTC Charges DirecTV with Fraud for Misleading Customers - The
Federal Trade Commission is finally
catching on to what many uninformed DirecTV customers found out the
hard way. The FTC voted to begin procedures to charge DirecTV with
unfair advertising practices in its two-year package for failure to
disclose all of the conditions and costs of the package in the
advertisement.
- New Cryptolocker variant targets gamers, encrypts game files -
Remember Cryptolocker, that nasty little program that encrypts
your files and then demands expensive bitcoins for your files'
decryption? While it is still making the rounds on the internet, a new
version of the malware has surfaced, and it is reportedly targeting
gamers. According to a
report by Bromium Labs, the new variant of the Cryptolocker
ransomware, which goes by the name TeslaCrypt, aims to extort money
from gamers by making them pay to unlock game files which they already
own. The malware apparently impacts data files of over 20 games, and is
distributed through a drive-by download attack from a website which
then redirects an unknowing user to the Angler exploit kit by utilizing
a Flash clip. The compromised website is purportedly running under
WordPress, where a malware attack has also been hosted before.
The malware targets 185 file extensions, and encrypts game saves, maps,
mods, replays, and other user-generated game content, which cannot be
retrieved if a game is reinstalled. The list of games that are affected
by the malware program includes Call of Duty, StarCraft, Diablo,
Fallout, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed, Half Life 2, and Bioshock 2,
among others. Digital game distribution platform Steam is allegedly
targeted, as well as game development software such as RPG Maker,
Unity3D, and Unreal Engine.
- The Banking System, Explained In 6 Minutes - Banks are a
riddle wrapped up in an enigma. We all kind of know that they do stuff
with money we don't understand, while the last crisis left a feeling of
deep mistrust and confusion. But why
where banks invented, why did they cause the last crisis and are
there alternatives?

Page won't load (ad poison?), but googled it up - 0 sadly it's a 16:9 junk, so it's for movies and not for gaming. 16:10 is far better for gaming.

Most of the time the manufacturers' drivers are pretty bad, so I am happy to see something like this happening.
I wish there'd be more of these.
And please make it free for Linux but make MS pay for these drivers!

For the ultimate snob.

Nice proof of concept, but I don't see the point.
Can you find out whether NSA is indexing you and then delete the NSA indexes rather than your own?
That would be an achievement.

Yeah, but a "how to browse the internet without getting crap for dummies" might prevent this as a whole.

Let's hope it will trigger a HD remake for Rouge Squadron 3D. | |
