TechNews - Windows 10 build 9926 released - tech|
| (hx) 04:24 PM CET - Jan,24 2015 |
- Download: Windows 10 build 9926 - Microsoft has released
another Windows 10 build (Windows 10 9926 English: x86 | x64)
for the Windows Insider program and this release brings with it a
plethora of new features including Cortana, Continuum and a bunch
more. The build includes much of what Microsoft showcased earlier
this week
including the new Start Menu with the ability to expand to a
full-screen experience.
- Windows 10 Detailed - Windows VP Joe Belfiore discusses new

- iPhone has secret software that can be remotely activated to
spy - According to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, the
iPhone has secret spyware that allows governments to watch users
without their knowledge and consent. Snowden doesn't use the phone
because of the hidden software embedded in it, which his lawyer says
can be remotely activated to watch the user. Anatoly Kucherena
explained to Russian news agency RIA Novosti that Snowden never uses an
iPhone and that instead, he uses a simple phone. Well, I won't be
surprised if they did, after all Microsoft are the 1st company that
willingly submit to NSA scheme :-)
- Apple Allows China To Search Its Software For Backdoors -
According to a report in Beijing News, Apple agreed to allow security
audits of its software before it gets used in China. Apple has
denied
that its software has any backdoors in the past, but it appears the
Chinese wants to see for themselves if that's true. This comes after it
was discovered from Snowden's NSA documents that tech companies either
willingly cooperate or have their software and networks hacked so
American intelligence agencies can spy on other foreign nations. That
discovery has made foreign countries less trusting of American
companies, and some have already started taking actions to resolve this
potential security issue.
- The Worst Passwords Of 2014 - The list of
the worst passwords of 2014 is out and it looks almost identical to
2013 :-)

Scientists at Stanford University have found a way to extend telomeres,
the protective caps at the end of our chromosomes which are linked
to
both disease and aging itself.
- Blending Neodymium Magnets Produces Some Unusual
Consequences - Tom just celebrated the birth of his 40th grand
child! Wow! He just discovered one of his
favorite toys, neodymium magnet balls, are said to be banned by the

toy...but Will it Blend?
- A Device That Lets You Use AdBlock In Real Life - Hah!
I'd suggest keeping away from Times Square when using
this.

It is indeed out!
Or did you mean what it's like? It's good - although they're starting to move some of the control panel stuff into the metro apps, but these aren't full screen, so it's not ALLLLL bad. Solid OS for an alpha/beta..

Yeah, I mean actual hands-on stuff.
You know, from user's (and maybe gamer's perspective).
We bitch a lot about WinDOS, so I wonder how much of that bitching was already mitigated in the new Windows 10 build.

what do you mean its not all bad.. everything about metro is fking shit from its piss poor square shit graphics and most of its fking crap apps.
Windows 10 as a OS doesn't even get fking basic shit done right anymore. Need a calculator with an icon on the deskstop/taskbar etc download a better one. Microphone recorder? (I haven't seen winshite 10 version, but last time I checked Win8 came with what can only described with the most fking dumbed fking garbage for a basic microphone recorder, it was if i remember a large fking icon in the middle of the screen, with fuck all options not even a timeline, I can only think MS got some fking intern to make it. How is that fking progress when Win95 came with better fucking built in basic applications to use on the OS. Win8/10 just comes with shit I'd rather just uninstall.
Sorry but fuck these morons who say win10 is alright you dumbed down fking lemmings.
Everything about the OS control panel and customizability of the OS is a fking joke and a mess, it looks like fking shit for idiots who need large spaced out fonts with fuck all options in between.
Win10 is just Microsucks answer to pushing more infestering cloud metro shit, with its dumbed down tablet interfaces with fuck all options.
Where the fuck is the actual improvements for the desktop OS?!?!? even Explorer? Its file system where are the real improvements to anything here.. DX shitting 12 that cannot possibly be added to past OS for $$$$ reasons is about the only fking improvement worth considering, and thats tied to games actually even utilizing it.
If you have show hidden files enabled in explorer does the desktop.ini file show on the desktop.. yes ...MS you lazy fucks.
They aint done shit all worth upgrading from Win7.. it might be a OS worth upgrading to from Metroshit 8, but i'll stick with Win7 where the OS control panel and startmenu still has resemblance to being made for desktop with actual fucking consistency to Aero UI design.

lol ... Well those morons are the target audience.. so that is why its all going to shit..
gj crApple soon Windows will be as shitting useless as OSX.

So don't use it! I've used Win8 since it was out and have never used a Metro app. Simple as..

Come on Koogle, get your facts right - that only shows if you show protected system files, not show hidden files.
I agree they need to progress the filesystem though. The only real improvement they've added is background filesystem checks - no more pauses on boot while it runs checks.
Koogle> They aint done shit all worth upgrading from Win7.. it might be a OS worth upgrading to from Metroshit 8, but i'll stick with Win7 where the OS control panel and startmenu still has resemblance to being made for desktop with actual fucking consistency to Aero UI design.
In 10, they've added Cortana, multiple desktops, notifications look much better, among others and they've not even finished yet!
Win 8, there was window snapping, it used less resources than 7, the lock screen has more info on it, the ribbon in Explorer actually makes it quicker to do certain jobs, new task manager is REALLY nice, it boots and shuts down quicker, USB3 is built in and file transfers actually give you options when stuff exists/can't be changed/etc.
Before you post, just take a deep breath...

| heretic | (09:29 PM CET - Jan,25 2015 ) | Hehe :D
I'm not Windows nor Microsoft fan :-) But I must admit that Windows 8.1 with StartIsBack runs better than Windows 7 SP1. (better memory management, etc..simply they have beter kernel). Metro is crap, but it's easy to ignore it :)
Based on what I have seen, I think Windows 10 is going to be a major success - more so than even Windows 7. Really appreciate the interface changes (Continuum), multiple desktops, Spartan, Cortana...Simply, Windows 10 looks promising for old-school PC users. You know, like gamers with desktop PC.
Of course, I share the skepticism of all the people questioning Windows 10 also. What's with the free upgrade? Why all of a sudden? I need to know a lot more before I upgrade!!
| th4t1guy | (12:22 AM CET - Jan,26 2015 ) | I've been using the win10 preview for a few months now. It's got a few stability issues, but it's not a whole lot different from win7 other than they moved a bunch of things around, kinda like how they do with each version of Office they release.
The 2 main things I've noticed with the latest build is Cortana and an enhanced notifications center.
Cortana replaces the search/run menu and seems similar to Spotlight on the Mac.
The notification center is on the taskbar, and holds app notifications, similar to what you see on smartphones.
Stability-wise, since the latest build, my audio driver occasionally crashes and needs a restart.
If a fullscreen game crashes (for example, New Vegas), you can not view your desktop until the process is killed. You can bring up task manager, but can not see the program to kill the process, so you either have to log out or create a shortcut to kill the process in advance.
So far, maybe about 10% of programs don't work, but that's kinda expected.
| imgarfield | (11:01 AM CET - Jan,26 2015 ) | To be honest I find it annoying to be recommended to "ignore" Metro, considering it is the major "progress" and "investment" done to the OS in the last 5 years.
If I am to ignore Metro, Win7 is just fine! Even officially the performance boost in Win8 is 10% tops! Simply not worth it. It is that simple.
| Tom | (03:00 PM CET - Jan,26 2015 ) | | I'll stay with Win7 until I have no choice. After further thought, I don't care for the 'upgrade' path either. Since when has an upgrade ever worked perfectly. You'll spend your time de-installing and cleaning and then if you have an app that doesn't like the OS, ur f'd. DX is not enough, I'll be most games with still continue to support DX9. | |
| Koogle | (10:11 PM CET - Jan,26 2015 ) | no i was talking about the metro microphone recorder, but either way, both are shitt for built in desktop applications you'd think they could provide something a little better for 2015.
what about WMP any improvements to that, nah.
hidden files/ protected files.. you know what i meant, there effort to improve things is beyond pathetic. There entire focus is about getting everyone using there metro shit, i wonder why.
You could at least say the jump from vista to win7 showed some fking effort by them to improve parts of the OS interface and Explorer.. ie improvements to taskbar, buttons, new useful api for applications to use for progress bars on the taskbar..
For MS with the money and developers they really are scraping the barrel, its not like there isn't a shit load of things they could still do to improve the OS, whether its more useful features and options or just better customizability.
Instead they rather unify and force all plebs using scrap tablet devices with one shitty OS design for them all. Bad move, the startmenu button that was for win8, is still just a fking button to shitting metro..thats a big fuk you. Because it just shows they still want shove there metro tablet crap cloud app shite in peoples faces. I mean, how fking dumb are MS? most corporations have IT department fascists practically looking for ways to dumb and lock down every possible fking part of the OS from workforce sheep.. and here MS comes along with Metro :D
Explorer ribbon interface useful? bloated crap to me, qttabbar takes giant shit on it while not adding bloat to the toolbar height. maybe other shell extensions aswel that MS could take a few tips from and just integrate with better options. they wont.
So basically fuck all improvements to the file explorer, i still remember the folder size extension on xp, that MS fkced over, how many years has it been, what have they done to improve at the OS level a for to show folder sizes in the file explorer either on a user selected basis or just on all the times. plenty of ways they could solve the issue, they've done fuck all there.
better notifcations? like wtf ..what notifications since when has ms provided useful notifications for anything, better firewall?> like an actual fucking firewall that isn't dogshit useless... and actually provides notifications for allow/deny / temporary allow etc per process id allow, per port allow.. all at a notification.. no i didnt fking think so.. these should be advanced features incorprated in an OS at some level, but MS bare bones shit all the way really. You need better third party tools for it, MS actually really like the idea of peoples PC's and day to day actions being a open book for them and there 'partners'. Cortana ...great, multi desktop.. ok thats 2015 gj MS jump over the moon for some basic fking multidesktop support.
better memory usage? better performance, negligible at best really, even startup times is like whatever these aren't huge improvements anymore.
fking marketing, better security and privacy, nah they take a shit on that. metro alone is like giant gaping hole for spyware and privacy, there is no finer grain firewall control on that if you allow metro you allow of its if shit.
the fact win10 is free upgrade is meaningless, if you aren't there customer then who is, they certainly want everyone on the new OS but they've done fuck all to really interest me on in it.
I keep hearing people say they are working on it.. hardly.

They say all that shit to promote win8 metro crap, yet Metro is no better, its worse... and most of crap on it, is nothing more than shitty wrappers around plain websites.
Google backdoor'd the fuck out of MS with Android and now most developers making junk apps will do it for android because that is where the market is, while MS will try to provide a market for winshit10 by offering free snake oil upgrades, MS are there own worst enemy, they just keep fking it up with greed and blocked ears to what people actually want. ... and every time they do, they lose another developer who is just not interested in there stupid games anymore. Maybe this same old DX12 api stunt that cannot possibly be allowed on previous OS version, be the last one they get pull to fking pull to force user upgrades.

For now, there's no way to turn off this field over even stop Cortana from listening. It's not listening to everything, but if you say "Hey Cortana," it wakes up and is ready respond.
