TechNews - Windows 9 preview targeting a Q2/2015 - tech|
| (hx) 05:00 PM CEST - May,17 2014 |
- Windows 9 preview targeting a Q2 2015 release - Windows
9, codename Threshold, is rumored for an April 2015 release date. This
information is known and comes from Paul Thurrott, a well-known
Microsoft insider. Now, according to a
new rumor, Microsoft will offer a preview version of the new
operating system sometime around February of 2015. Similar to the
Developer Preview or Consumer Preview of Windows 8, Microsoft is
rumored to offer a public preview build of Windows 9 sometime between
Q2 or Q3 of 2015 (around February or March of 2015) - giving consumers
a chance to play with the new operating system before it's official
release. This information comes from a leaker by the name of "Faikee,"
who was recently responsible for dropping the Windows 365 name, along
with other tidbits.
The bigger question is what Windows 9 will bring to the table in terms
of features. We would expect to see some integration of Cortana and
naturally the Start menu will be present too. Expect the Modern UI to
get updated as well but the degree of those changes are not clearly
known at this time.
I think there is a possibility there will be no Windows 9, instead the
next version of Windows could be Windows 8.2. I have a feeling
Microsoft wants to follow Mac OSX scheme of updates. I would personally
actually like if Microsoft came out with Windows 8.2 and sold it for
$29.00. Then again, if Microsoft left the Windows 8 name behind and
released Windows 9, it would bring positive reception.
- Nvidia GeForce 337.81 Beta Driver Released - Wolfenstein:
The New Order and Watch_Dogs will be released later this month and as
you'd expect, Nvidia has released a
new beta driver for its graphics cards. This new beta driver is
optimized for the aforementioned titles, as it comes with updated SLI
profiles for both of them.
- Google Play Store Now Accepts PayPal - Google today made
it easier for consumers to pay for Play
Store purchases by adding support for PayPal. Android device owners
can register their PayPal account with the Play Store and use PayPal -
rather than a credit card - to make app, game, and other content
purchases. PayPal is available to consumers in 12 countries, including
the U.S. and Canada. Google also expanded carrier billing and Google
Play gift cards to more carriers and more countries. Last, developers
in 13 new countries can sell apps in the Play Store for the first time.
Google believes the expanded support for varied payment vehicles will
entice developers to create more apps for the Android platform
- HTC One Mini 2: Specs, Price And Release Date - The HTC One
Mini 2 is coming equipped with a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm
Snapdragon 400 CPU, a 4.5 inch display (1280 x 720 ), a 13MP rear
camera, and a 5MP wide field of view front camera. People going for the
device will also get BoomSound stereo speakers, NFC, a miroSD card
slot, and a 2,100mAh battery. Similar to the One, the downsized variant
features an aluminum back and runs Sense 6 on top of Android 4.4. But
similar to last year's Mini, The One Mini 2 also has a band of plastic
around the sides. Compared to its bigger sibling, the One Mini 2 is
missing the Duo camera, the Motion Launch unlocking gestures, and the
IR blaster, things that made the flagship device more appealing.
- Motorola Moto E Drop, Water Resistance And Scratch Test - You are
probably thinking about buying the "priced for all" and "made to
last" Motorola Moto E right now. But is it really made to last?
- Why You Should Support Net Neutrality - In a nutshell,
cable companies want to
implement tiered pricing plans (similar to cellular data plans)
that will affect speeds relating to websites, gaming, and streaming
video. If left unchecked, cable companies will provide a "fast lane"
available for sites and applications that can pay. So gamers, expect
services such as Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and even Steam to pay
exorbitant fees for better speeds. And the consumer? Expect to pay more
to do what you like. From increased internet fees, to paying more for
your favorite applications. It's all going to affect you and your
wallet.
- The Spielberg Oner - One Scene, One Shot - One overlooked
aspect of Spielberg is that he's
actually a stealth master of the long take. From Duel to Tintin,
for forty years, he has sneakily filmed many scenes in a single
continuous shot. As always, this video is for educational purposes only.
- Heavy Metal Returns - Transformers Trailer 2 - New
Transformers Age Of Extinction Official
Trailer #2 is now available.
- Interstellar - Trailer - Official Warner Bros. - We broke the
Earth it wasn't under warranty anymore. Naturally, the only option
is to send Matthew Mcconaughey to space.
- This Visualization Of Sorting Algorithms Is As Fascinating - This
visualization and "audibilization" of 15 sorting algorithms takes
only 6 minutes to watch, and is a bizarre glimpse into the mind of
computers.
- DIY X-MEN WOLVERINE fully automatic claws - The first
ever fully automatic wolverine claws that deploy AND retact
automaticlly. These beuatiful 12" stainless steel claws fire out at the
touch of a button and bring me as close as anyone has to feeling like
they have adamantium claws. I think these are best on the net so hope
you like 'em.
- Alton Brown's Grilled Cheese Sandwich - Alton Brown
explains and demonstrates how to make a true grilled cheese sandwich, not
just a toasted sandwich with melted cheese inside.
- Anri Sugihara - Bustylicious treat from Japan hot pictures - Sugihara
Anri was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, and she is a famous
gravure and av idol in Japan.

I tend to agree. Even back with the internet was implemented in the early stages, many postulated it would evolve into something that would nickle and dime the end users and big bureaucracy would step in to manage it. The winners would be the nickel and dimers and squeaky wheel lobbyists to the bureaucracies.
Most national telecommunication infratructure is in place and the new thrust is getting fibre closer to the end user. Alot of national infrastructure, differs from country to country, region to region, is payed by end users or taxes (like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Service_Fund) and it gets murky. To speculate, I'm and end user paying taxes and subscription fees to help maintain infrastructure then I have to pay a middleman ISP to throttle the line to the carriers who send the data where it needs to go.
Alright, all fine and good then. i'd like to charge all internet companies 5 cents for every time they store a cookie on my computer, track my whereabouts, log my IP, compile my shopping data and metadata, stuff my data stream with useless advertising and streaming video, ... and yeah I know how that will turn out because I'm the end user.
| Kompressor | (08:25 PM CEST - May,17 2014 ) | Q2 and Q3 doesn't mean February and March.
Cable companies are evil. Everyone getting Internet from a cable company should see what other options are in their area and switch.

As if it hasn't since the very beginning, usage caps, data limits, tier plans, line rentals, government handouts, higher taxes, it all goes towards funding corruption.
And what open internet  couldn't make this shit up, the internet is the biggest policy parasite policed state in the world, its got every deadbeat government agency lying (literally) in bed with all telco companies and most media outlets ever since the internet took off in mass popularity so has requirement by these deadbeats to maintain control in every aspect of the internet.
The fact you even hear the term net neutralility when it in fact doesn't exist and never has is much like how you here the west has 'freedoms' , freedom to obey lying scum and hypocrite cunts. The freedom to be and support what you have been condition towards because anything else would be detrimental to your peace and safety.
And Telcos and isps already pass on the buck to customers and taxpayers through there cosy relationship with government and legal policy parasites, both shafting the citizens.
The arguments for and against net neutrality might aswel be written by the same fucking scumbags (and for the most part it is!, except for a miniroty bandwagon tards who think they are helping a good cause when its already over the people running the show and giving out the options are already in the bag) its a non issue and a distraction from more important issues really. Really it is just about informing the dumb fuck population with fallacies that ARE NOT AND HAVE NOT EVER BEEN FUCKING TRUE.
The only thing that is true, is that more money will be needed to keep corruption going and you all will be paying the price because you already do, it just helps if you believe and support the fucking bullshit surrounding either sides points regarding it.
Nothing more than the telcos rattling there cages and making a big song and dance with with big media SCUM to get everyones attention. wonder why they 'care'? about the issues they are telling you? THEY FUCKING DON'T, they just want you to care about NON FUCKING ISSUES while they do the job of making sure the 99% are dumb and uninformed as usual and wasting there time rallying against and talking about issues they have completely under there control either way.
| Genoism | (04:00 AM CEST - May,18 2014 ) | you guys don't even know the half of it...did you know that in the majority of the cities in america, cable companies have actually made it a LAW that they cannot have competition. Yes, you read that correctly....don't believe it? Google it.
Oh yea...check this out :)
