TechNews - AMD Launches the FX-4350 and FX-6350 - tech
(hx) 12:56 AM CEST - May,03 2013
  • AMD Launches the FX-4350 and FX-6350 Piledriver CPUs - AMD has refreshed its lineup of FX processors with the launch of the FX-4350 and FX-6350, which are both based on the "Piledriver" architecture, feature an AM3+ socket, and support the "latest instructions including AVX and FMA3." The new CPUs can essentially be viewed as faster and less energy-efficient versions of their predecessors since both the FX-4350 and FX-6350 feature a 400 MHz increase in base clock and 30 W higher TDP than the FX-4300 and FX-6300, respectively.
  • Compromised Apache binaries load malicious code - Researchers at web security firm Sucuri have discovered modified binaries in the open source Apache web server. The binaries will load malicious code or other web content without any user interaction. Only files that were installed using the cPanel administration tool are currently thought to be affected. ESET says that several hundred web servers have been compromised.
  • Google Search 3.0 for iOS Adds Google Now - Google has added its Google Now service to the Google Search application for the iPhone and iPad. In order to use Google Now, iOS device owners will need to download and install the newest version of Google Search. Users can then sign into their Google account and activate Google Now, which offers personalized information, such as local weather, sports scores, and the time it will take to commute home, in a card-like format on the screen. Google Search with Google Now is free to download from the iTunes App Store.
  • Skype video messages now available on Windows - Skype released their video messaging service for iOS, Android and Mac back in February, and now it's finally Microsoft's turn. Starting today, Windows Skype users will be able to send and receive short video messages from their contacts. The new feature was expected and it is available for those that download the latest Skype beta version from the official website. Folks can record and send video up to three minutes long and they will be limited to 20 video messages until they'll be prompted to upgrade to Skype Premium. The new feature is currently only available on Windows 7 and in the desktop version of Skype on Windows 8 but the team does note that video messaging will be hitting the Modern version of Skype shortly.
  • How To Use Google Glass - Google released a new How To Use Google Glass video that is designed to help people get started using the glasses
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 16GB comes with just 8.82GB of free space - The S4 offers a range of storage options, including 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The smallest of these is heavily impacted by the large footprint of pre-installed software, which collectively eats up around 45% of the handset's integrated storage. Of the 16GB of space, just 8.82GB remains for users, with the rest being consumed by the Android OS, and an extensive list of pre-loaded apps, including some of Samsung's own software such as its S Voice, S Translator and S Health apps. Let's try not to overreact here though. This is precisely why Samsung provides a choice of storage options; if that 8.82GB of onboard storage isn't enough for you, then you can always opt for one of the models with more space for your files - and don't forget that the handset offers a microSD card slot to allow you to flexibly extend your storage at a later date.
  • Galaxy S4 vs. 50 Cal Sniper Rifle - How well does a new Galaxy S4 hold up when shot by a .50 cal sniper rifle?
  • Real Life Liquid Lifebar Project - Building it took about 100 hours + a bit of time on videography, editing, effects, learning things. The test UI you see is a C# windows form I wrote integrated with terraria using tconfig and a custom mod to launch it. I'll post some more specifics in the future
  • Futuristic Headlight Technology Turns Rain Invisible  - Intel and Carnegie Mellon University are working with newly developed technology that one day in the near future, will render rain droplets invisible to the cars passengers, making for safer driving conditions in the rain. The projected date for the technology to find its way to automobiles is around 10 years away.
  • Pocket Blu-ray laser kills 100 black balloons in a row! - 100 black balloons vs. Blu-ray laser! It is all over in under 8 seconds. The sound they make as they pop is a bit mesmerizing! Note: The laser used in this video is custom made from a flashlight body and the laser diode from a 12X speed Blu-ray burner drive and not purchased in a store or online.
  • The Matrix Retold by Mom - How can anyone be this far off after watching a movie? :-)
  • This video by filmmaker Willie Witte is pretty damn neat! - None of the visuals are computer generated. All the trickery took place literally in front of the camera.
  • The Hangover Part III - TV Spot 2 - The third and final chapter of The Hangover franchise from Warner Bros. will hit theaters on Memorial Day, May 24th.
  • Another Superb Sci-Fi Short 'ABE' with Creepy Robot  - Directed by Rob McLellan and starring Sam Hoare, Claire Huskisson and Emily Baxter. ABE started life as a short film entry 'Love... and all that' into the Colchester 48 Hour Film Challenge and evolved into an idea for a live action film. The short film is just the beginning of, what will evolve into, a much larger project. ABE was produced by Zero-G Productions, written/directed by McLellan, with a story by McLellan and Sven Hornse.

In the country where I'm from, 5 years olds have their own motorbike races, riding their bikes under 100km/h. Are they licensed drivers? Of course not!
It's worth mentioning that naturally, there's no one on the race tracks other than the racers and their bikes.
Race tracks are also private roads. Go figure.
