Battlefield 4 to be Bundled with AMD Cards - tech|
| (hx) 11:33 PM CEST - Apr,05 2013 | Looks like the next wave of AMD cards will come bundled with Battlefield 4.
"[Partnership between AMD and EA DICE on the Battlefield 4] was presented at the Game Developer Conference, and the AMD Gaming Evolved logo already appeared online in the context of the game. You can expect that Battlefield 4 will be part of [future] Never Settle bundles," said Roy Taylor, corporate vice president of global channel sales, said in an interview with Heise.de web-site.
AMD and DICE (an Electronic Arts studio that develops Battlefield video games) demonstrated the content from the forthcoming Battlefield 4 game at the GDC 2013 running on a PC based on the Radeon HD 7990 graphics car, a long-awaited flagship dual-chip graphics solution by AMD.
Given the fact that Battlefield 4 is a multi-platform high-profile title, it is unlikely that it will use AMD's proprietary technologies, such as TressFX, however, since both next-gen consoles are powered by AMD’s graphics engines, it can be expected that the game will be optimized for AMD's GCN architecture which powers AMD Radeon HD 7000-series graphics cards.
At present, AMD provides free BioShock Infinite, Crysis 3, Devil May Cry, FarCry 3, Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider with the purchase of select Radeon HD 7800- and Radeon HD 7900-series graphics cards. In the coming weeks, AMD will start to add free SimCity video game to select A10- and A8-series accelerated processing units.

The irony is in the fact that BF3 actually runs better on kepler based nvidia than on any amd hardware. BF4 will be based of the same frostbyte2 engine so I am guessing it will run better on nvidia again. | |
