- Intel Sandy Bridge Extreme Core i7 3960X Tested - Intel debuts its $1000+ Extreme Edition 3960X

don't want, and nothing we do want.
- Seagate: Hard drive supplies could be affected
through late 2012 - If you were hoping to stock up on cheap
storage this holiday shopping season, you might be disappointed. Not
only could the recent flooding in Thailand slow hard drive shipments
through the fourth quarter of this year, supplies could be affected
through the end of 2012, according to Seagate CEO Stephen Luczo.
- Plextor launches M3S SSD series, starts at $200 - The
new 2.5-inch M3S drives combine SATA III connectivity and a Marvell
controller to deliver speeds of up to 525MB/s and 445MB/s for
sequential reads and writes, and up to 70,000 and 65,000 IOPS for
random reads and writes. They also feature the Plextor's proprietary
TrueSpeed feature, which claims to preserve "like-new" performance even
after prolonged use. The lowest capacity 128GB model will sell for $200
later this month, alongside a 256GB variant for $350, while a 512GB
version is scheduled to arrive early next year for $700. All three
utilize Toshiba's 24nm MLC (Multi-level cell) NAND flash and are backed
by a longer than usual five year warranty.
- Toshiba Portege Z835: A New Ultrabook Appears - If
the ultrabook as a concept appeals to you, the ASUS Zenbook UX21 is probably going to
be a better buy. The $999 model may be $100 more than
Toshiba's Portege Z835, but it has a much faster CPU, a slightly better
screen, better build quality, and a vastly superior SSD
- 2011 Media Streamer Roundup : Netgear NTV550,
A.C.Ryan PlayOn!HD2 and the Boxee Box - At this stage of the
game, it is very clear that there is no such thing
as an ultimate media player. Devices with a good OTT
capabilities disappoint in the extent of support for local media
playback. On the other hand, streamers with Blu-ray menu capabilities
(such as the NTV550) and other such local media goodies have
disappointing (or almost non-existent) support for online media services

- Apple Admits iOS 5.0.1 did Not Fix All Battery
Issues - Apple has acknowledged that the iOS 5.0.1
update
that promised to address reports of poor battery performance on iOS
devices has not, in fact, fixed the problem for some devices owners.
After the update was released Thursday afternoon, many device owners
took to Apple's support forums to complain that they were continuing to
experience battery issues despite having downloaded the update and
having reset their phones. In addition, Startup Foundry founder Paul
Hontz reported late last week that after updating to 5.0.1, the iPhone was no
longer able to associate address book contacts
with other apps. Opening the Contacts app would display all the right
names. But using the iMessage texting app or even making a phone call
would fail to remember the name of a contact and just display the
person's phone number.
- Ice Cream Sandwich Face Unlock feature compromised

managed to repeat the same test with similar set up. A Galaxy Nexus was
first set up using his face and then repeated with a digital picture of
his face on a Galaxy Note. As
expected, he was able to unlock with his photo.

on their blog.

8-year old girl who lives in Ireland, and a few years ago she placed a
prank call to a demolition company asking them if they could demolish

of her.

this would be Anonymous, if they can even be counted a viable threat to
the FBI...

- Jenna Dewan-Tatum Sexes It Up For Men's Health
December 2011 - The last time I remember seeing Jenna Dewan
was in her thankless role in 'The Playboy Club'. She had a lame sex
scene and a few shots in granny-panties. Well, now that the show's been
canceled, we get to see Jenna in her REAL underwear. The
sultry brunette graces the pages of the December issue of
Men's Health wearing nothing but her inhibitions and you know what? I
like it.
- Nadya Nepomnyashaya Pictures - I
haven't featured a lot of girls from Uzbekistan but I should be looking
further into that nation if they're as hot as Nadya Nepomnyashaya! :-)
- The Little Hudgens Sister Celebrates Her Sweet 16

2. Never Wet 2? Are you kidding me? Why would you spray your whole mobo with this shit? It looks like it would be an insulator and make heat harder to dissipate. How are going to keep it out of the various connection points in pci or pcie slots? cpu? I can see boots or shoes maybe even a special material jacket like suede. Cellphone? Nope don't see it especially on a smartphone. How is the phone going to breath? These things generate heat even a tablet left running get's fairly warm and even hot.
3. Microwave is useless. It won't sell.
4. Vanessa Hudgens lil sis has a creeper? Looks like it. The photos look like they were personal.
5. Thanks for the hot Nadya pics.

Not true. I order from most of the top distributors here in the US, and most if not all of them are not only rationing drives out (some will only let me order ONE of a model drive at a time), but stock coming in is way lower than normal.

Interesting info...they are still damn expensive here in Europe :-(
gx-x | (09:54 PM CET - Nov,21 2011 ) | I refuse to believe that almost all hardrive production is tied to Thailand.
"floods inundated several major manufacturing bases in Thailand where about one-fourth of the world's HDDs were made"
as we can see here, it's only 1/4 (but that's too much to be based in single country or better yet single region) so if till now HDD prices were dropping due to increased production or decreased sales, one would expect that, under normal market conditions, this flood would just make a price stagnation, not shortage of goods and price increase...The HDD makers are up to something and in the end I think they will have to pay fines, which will be like 1/20 of the profits they made during this scam. (nothing unusual btw.)
quote: "We need to ensure that: first, our facilities can be rebuilt as soon as possible, and secondly, we can continue to operate and develop in Thailand in the future," he said.
I mean really, from what were they building these hi-tech facilities that produce billions of dollars? On confiscated forest based meth-labs made out of straw and wood planks?
yea, right. I mean, these facilities, at least some parts, need to be dust free (assembly lines come to mind), that would assume some sort of protection against things as small as dust particles are unable to come through, air is filtrated, doors are air-tight (preferably) so how the fuck did the water get in there?! SOME water ok, but they need to REBUILD the facilities ffs...To me, this smells, not fishy, but shitty! I am telling you, they didn't like current HDD prices, they wanted more profit, they scammed insurance companies and god knows who to use this flood in Thai to their advantage.
I don't remember AMD CPUs being pricey and unavailable when they only RENTED ONE FAB! They got more expensive when they built their owns thou.
@heretic:
nothing new for USA, thy are usually overstocking everything. Look at how many warheads they have ffs, over 4000 1 megaton warheads. That will have to be spent one day, like all those cruise missiles they are spending now...

Yeah :-( I would not be surprised if this continues into 2013 and beyond. It is like blood in the water with these higher prices and once they have gotten used to charging people this way it will take a long time before coming back to sanity.
The SSD guys should drop their decent 80GB / 120GB drive prices to make them attractive to OEMs and the big boys.... even consumers.

let me give you a hint: Seagate usually offers 3 year warranty on their drives. Just get used ones that are still under warranty. I see them in used hardware sections for under 35 euros.
