  • Purported AMD Bulldozer Benchmarks Leaked - A website called DonanimHaber has posted what they claim are leaked AMD Bulldozer benchmarks. The benchmark results include Cinebench, 3DMark11, PCMark7 X264 and more.
  • Intel discontinues its Core i7-970 due to lack of demand - Launched at the tail end of Summer 2010, the chip runs at 3.2GHz and under 'Turbo Mode' can clock up to 3.46GHz. The 32nm part with thermal design power of 130W almost immediately received a significant price drop, and is currently being hawked for somewhere in the region of £430, if you can find it in stock. Now Intel has announced that its Product Discontinuance Program Support for the chip began on 6 July 2011 and will end with the firm shipping the last Core i7-970 chip a year later. For boxed chips, that is to say those in retail packaging, after 27 January 2012 it'll be first come first served for remaining stocks.
  • Windows Vista SP1 support being retired on July 12 - Vista's Service Pack 1 will exit all support on July 12, this month's Patch Tuesday. According to Computer World, that will be last time security updates will be issued for the aging operating system. Microsoft supports its business products for 10 years, the first five in what it calls "mainstream support," and the second five in "extended support." In extended support, only companies with special contracts get non-security fixes. Microsoft does continue (in most cases) to provide security fixes for all persons and companies during the total ten year period. This situation is different from Office XP, which is now officially being retired. Vista SP1 users can upgrade to Vista SP2 and receive further support. Microsoft released SP2 for Vista in May of 2009.
  • Windows 8: Build 8042 compiled - According to WinBeta, Windows 8 Build 8042.0.110707-1940 has been compiled. It is a Milestone 3 Build and was compiled on July 7th.
  • VLC media player suffering in face of crapware and uncaring Google - Ask any geek for a media player recommendation that runs on Windows, Mac, or Linux, and you're guaranteed to hear VLC mentioned quite often. It's free to download and use, includes support for just about any video format you'd want to watch, and has a dedicated team of developers behind it. The problem is, while VLC is developed as a not-for-profit open source project, other companies are taking advantage of its popularity to distribute adware and spyware.
  • Fuck you for wasting my time and bandwidth, DRM - What's especially funny about this is that they try to get a paying customer to remove any other pirated games s/he might have. It's like, they bought your fucking game when they were obviously willing to pirate others, and you still want to bitch about it?

Ya know what, let me guess, he probably removed Daemon tools but I'll bet you he left the device driver installed. You know how many arse-head-n00bs do that? I have this game and I had only Daemon tools installed, when I uninstalled it and the driver I had no problems running the game. So imho, this guy is a fucking idiot. Yippe, you pirated the game that's all this game was worth in the first place. And for some of you fuck nuts that don't get it, alcohol, daemon tools etc all use sptd.sys, depending on the software version you are using or the software period, it does not remove this driver and because it's still there it's detected by the installer/game. You need a special uninstaller to remove it. If this guy had a fucking brain, he would have shown you device manager for system devices and you would have seen it sitting there. SPTD.sys. Get a fucking clue before you go whining on the internet.
