PS3 SSD Benchmark Comparison - tech
(hx) 11:42 PM CEST - Jun,29 2011
An extensive video review of the realized disk I/O performance gained by putting an SSD (60GB Vertex 2 in this case) in your PS3, replacing the original 5400rpm spindle drive that is in it now. Everything from demo install times to specific game load sequences that are exclusively I/O bound. We make sure to only benchmark the disk-intensive operations and not introduce other complicating factors into the process like network I/O or Blu-ray disk access:

60gb? lol, wtf I got like 150+gb on my PS3 currently. Waste of money, SSD is still to expensive. I also heard, long term, SSD would not be good for PS3 because of heat and the simple fact it was not designed to handle a SSD. That's only what I read here and there. I thought about exploring SSD a few times but bahh.. couldn't be bothered. The other thing I was thinking is, why spend the money if a whole bunch of games etc will not tax the HD? To me it's just a waste of money. All my media etc is served from my server in the basement throughout the house so again, no need for the HD.

yes a 7200rpm hdd is a better idea for a ps3.. leave the ssd for an actual computer, that will make more use of it.
