Battlefield 3 to run at 30 FPS, 720p on consoles - briefly

DICE developers confirmed via Twitter that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions would run at 720p, as opposed to 1080p, which both consoles support. Furthermore, console versions would run at 30 frames per second, which is considered the bare minimum frame rate for first person shooters. The news comes after DICE developer Johan Anderson confirmed via Twitter that the game will run at 30 fps on consoles, and later confirmed that it will be in 720p as well.
DICE is present at this year’s Dreamhack LAN party — the biggest LAN event in the world, held annually in Sweden. DICE’s Patrick Bach did a similar presentation of the Thunder Run singleplayer mission he did at E3, this time in front of an eager Swedish audience:

Actually I play quite a lot with colleagues at my work and other adults, but yes I play with my 4 and 9 year old son too. I've already told you a few times now that I game mostly on a PC. I know, you are slow and for years and years I've told you the same thing. While I prefer PC I still support console as does million and millions of others. Kinda why most every game is developed for console and ported to pc. Why the hell are you people arguing about platforms? That is pointless. So is the FPS talk. In case anyone noticed, the PC platform is getting less games than consoles or getting them later, often being piss poor ports. Maybe one of the reasons is that people who are extremists when it comes to PC are raging all over the developers' forums.
When it comes to gaming, one should not limit themselves to one platform. I enjoy playing on a friend's PS3, because of the wide range of co-op and fighting games. I'd sure love to own a Wii for the Resident Evil titles that will most likely never be on PC. So stop bitching and try to enjoy the diversity around you.
@Stumpus - that's achieved through interpolation, so it's not the real thing, but w/e.

Nobody talked about 740fps nor sitting over the fraps counter with a magnifying glass. These are your words and just show how you perceive people's valid arguments.
The freagin point here, is that you need solid 60fps, for quality gaming. End of story. Anything below that, is a waste of time, especially the 30fps standard that the consoles try to impose on the industry.
The fucking Sega Model 3 was running everything at 60fps, 15 years ago. Was Sega out of their minds trying to do that? 3dfx was a 60fps preacher as well. So what these new fucks have discovered? Motion blur! Right! Blur the fucking thing and make it even worse looking.
Do you want to know what's the real damage of console gaming? Have you looked at Alice Madness Returns lately? It's capped at 30fps right out of the box! The user must go into the configuration file and unlock it to 60fps.
Similar fails had been done with Transformers Wars for Cybertron and Both Dead Space games and who knows what else. Games that are perfectly capable to run at 60fps on a decent PC, are artificially handicapped in favor of the console industry. How can anyone support that?
It's not a matter of insecurity, it's a matter of usability. Something that keeps degrading due to the consoles' retarded hardware.

So you don't understand a thing i said.
I have a TV capable of 600fps. That means it has a 'buffer' of sorts that takes an input =PC,console, live tv, films etc etc. and transposes the fps into a VERY smooth and unbelievable frame rate BETTER than the input, with no lag or stutter. I can assure you that 'Game mode' is like nothing witnessed. No shitty dropped frames as everything is buffered as smooth as glass.
That means no lag in responce time in displaying images during high speed gaming -600Hz is FUCKING fast!!!! Faster than PC monitors or LCD.
Of course if your high performance PC drops frames -like they all do- it wont buffer out a dramatic loss, but the PC is a factor about all things hardware and nothing runs at the same rate, so it's a subjective statement.
PCs still drop under 60fps even when games aren't capped -either that or a multitude of other permutations have to be pissed about with to maintain the 'golden' number -resolutions,AA/AF,progs running and so forth.
The consoles have been around through several version of windows, so therefore outlived the PC financialy, when folks don't buy games for it then it's time to move to the next generation -which is next year or there abouts? 3D gaming on a console is fucking piss sharp and incredibly good -for no hardware upgrade or cost. Oh i have the TV as the operative word is 'tv', i watch 3D tv and films on it as well as gaming.
30/60fps is nothing more than subjective bullshit, it's about OPTIMISATION. If it's smooooooth then that's what it's about. Then again, throw it through a tv such as mine at 600Hz -600fps and it's no shit sherlock. 8)

It's even more sadder, preaching a fake 600hz over the importance of native 60fps over 30fps.
