id on RAGE PC Controls - briefly|

'The PC’s going to be an awesome platform for it. There are a lot of buttons.'
Rage doesn’t follow the trend for letting you only carry two weapons at once. Instead, you can carry all your weapons at all times, and they’re mapped to the traditional number keys. |

IF "Brink" uses id tech 5 and IF they optimize it for "RAGE" then I MIGHT buy the game...but anyways, people are gonna buy it so it doesn't really matter what I think or do. | |

The devs that made Brink have nothing to do with ID....except they use their engine! That doesnt make the engine bad, or ID bad, or RAGE bad!!!

If game does not run well on my PC, and doesn't look better than crysis series, then the game is not coded well. Again, I have zero interest in investing into bad and/or shoddy coding.
PS. thanks for the info on "Brink". Hope remains for "Rage" and that is good news :) | |

I find their comment about number of guns weak. What is this some "try to deflate Duke Nukem" talk? Glad it supports more guns but really not any such motivator to buy the game. | |

PS. thanks for the info on "Brink". Hope remains for "Rage" and that is good news :)Well, Carmak sayd it many times that Rage is running on DX9, because they do all the stuff with DX9 that 10 and 11 can do, and they dont need to invest on tesselation and pointless stuff like that for now.
The engine and game are optimized for consoles so you wont need expensive PC to run it, but IDtech uses unique technique for textures for example, and the world looks really impressive with non tiling textures and awesome detail, light and so on...
I love the part that they bring 1-9 keys with weapons, i cant remember the last game i played and used those :)
Btw, you can see from the gameplay that the textures are pretty low rez. That shows the optimization for consoles. I hope, and im pretty shure, that for PC the textures will be a lot more hi rez :) | |

And play actually worst than a 250-350 PC upgrade or a lot less. Last week I was playing MK and LANoire in PS3 and looks like shit. No filters what so ever (AA and AF), horrible textures, horrible pop-ups objects in right in front of you, inexistent LOD and distance drawing. Man, it looks worst than many PC games from around 2004.
Cheapy old technology and ridiculous controls for and FPS, that's what you get for 250-350 bucks. If you ask me, is way to expensive for the lame experience.
Oh, and a $ 150 X6 CPU, $ 250 560Ti and $ 40 4GB will do the trick and look waaaaayyyyy to better. | |

See I don't find this an improvement( everything upwards of <num> 4 barely every gets used in a game) I think its ID software lazyness... because realistically a minimal weapon selection fits (that you can mod and upgrade and collect more ammo through shops etc) would better for this sort of game, where you can define your characters playstyle.. Add stash points or ways of storing your weapons and ammo etc... but no.. just carry everything old skool.. I don't see how they can market that as a plus point anyway. | |

With the macros, the keys around WASD and the extra mouse buttons I get a lot of guns configured since... ever. Actually the numeric setup is hard and uncomfortable to reach. Quake, Unreal, Doom. If you find an über weapon with poor ammo capacity for heavy rain moments is great that it sits in the back while you are using a shotgun, chaingun, machine gun, pistol, plasma gun, grenade launcher or rpg. Obviously for this kind of FPS. In a BF or COD doesnt have any sense. | |
