surfaces - It was
not long ago that an early build of Windows 8 leaked to the Internet.
While that build was a bit dated, there now appears to be users
who have build 7955 in their hands
- Portable Workspace puts Windows 8 on a thumb drive
- Winrumors is reporting that Windows 8 will offer a Portable Workspace
Creator that allows users to run the OS from a USB device.
Details on this new feature are still scarce. However, it's said to
require at least 16GB of storage capacity. Let's hope that requirement
isn't a reflection of Windows 8's install footprint. I suspect USB
devices will also need to meet minimum performance specifications to
house a personal workspace.

to move OpenOffice.org to a purely community-based open source project
and to no longer offer a commercial version of OpenOffice. Oracle
became OpenOffice's principal contributor when it acquired Sun

I'd prefer a hell of a lot more ways to customize my desktop without having to run to 3rd party solutions. Probably why I enjoy my linux netbook so much. It looks the way I like it. | |
