After months of speculation, confirmation and deliberation, the Xperia Play has finally been officially
announced by Sony and will be available for purchase as early
as March. The Xperia Play phone will be running Android 2.3 on release
and will be the first PlayStation Certified phone ever released. The
phone will also have a design fairly reminiscent of the PSPgo, with a
4-inch multi-touch LCD screen, a digital D-pad, the Sony-version of
ABXY, and two shoulder buttons as well. Following suit with the NGP
(PSP2), the Xperia Play will have two analogue touch pads, a feature
none of the models of the PSP have yet to exhibit. Also included is a
five megapixel camera and a four inch touch sensitive screen. The
device runs on Gingerbread (2.3), a version of the Google Android
platform. Powering all this is a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a
1Ghz CPU and embedded Adreno GPU graphics processor. What that means in
layman's terms, according to Sony Ericsson, is that the Xperia Play is
capable of providing 60fps, 3D gaming and web browsing with minimal
power consumption. Among the confirmed launch titles are FIFA 10
(complete with multiplayer), Need for Speed, Sims 3, Assassin's Creed
and Splinter Cell. A Guitar Hero game is also slated for release,
despite Activision recently announcing that development on the series
had been disbanded. The device will also come pre-loaded with original
PlayStation title Crash Bandicoot.

I like how it is still a reasonable size and yet packs a lot of punch. I don't really care for iPods or iPhones or iPads. It's all trendy shit, look at me I have an Apple product crap. Overpriced and easily hackable crap. For this thing though, I'd like to know how the internet browser is on it. The PSP has a god awful browser and the ps3 doesn't have that great of one either. Level of security compared to other products would be nice to know too.
