Now, this is some very exciting technology! Really impressive!
And yet.... we wont see games using it until the fakin consoles catch up with PC

someone should tell this guy that Steve Balmer (or as we call him here in Serbia - Blamer (someone that makes a fool out of himself)) get's applauded for being an idiot, not because he's brilliant...
as for the presentation, they will need to show much more than tessellation (feature that is not used much, nor it will be used until next-gen consoles since PC mainly gets ports from consoles) which is meaningless if they want to take a piece of the AMD's pie.
I sure hope they will make it, this situation now is getting boring. AMD keeps pushing, nVidia keeps storytelling...I am sort of an nVidia fan (not fanboi) but I sure am glad that I picked this 5850 last winter and didn't wait for their overpriced 4xx series for another half year. In my opinion, nVidia should have priced 4xx series as it is now the moment they launched it. I doubt they are going to sell much now with HD6xxx series out and new GPU from AMD just around the corner.

Sweet, so in Call of Duty 1549806 you will be able to cap a guy in the stomach and watch his tessellated guts spill out onto the floor. Saving for my upgrade now!

but in this call of duty, you get to watch a guy come in front of you and just stand there waiting for you to aim on him and kill him. Guess that's a glitch that got trough to PC from console version (where it's an intended feature)

Last time i checked Nvidia is ruling the market  the numbers were something like NV-65 vs AMD 35%

As for the GTX 580, it could be a great card if they have fixed all the issues with GF100. Still, rumors suggest that it's actually an overclocked full spec'ed GTX 480. Not necessarily a bad thing, if they keep the TDP at check.
Rumor has it that it will cost like 500 euros, in which case they can shove it.

Although I tend to have some ATI-fanboyism, I honestly hope they will get their ass kicked real hard for their software noobs.

Was the footage of the sci fi city from a game also or some tech demo? Thanks.

Yes. That's the endless city DX11 techdemo. It only runs on Nvidia cards.
