NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.89 WHQL - tech
(hx) 09:57 PM CEST - Oct,18 2010
Nvidia have announced the WHQL release of their new 260 series of graphics drivers. After 2 betas the drivers are finally stable enough to be Windows certified. The 260 series adds support for Nvidia's lower-end GTS 450 and GT 430 GeForce cards, and also offer a performance boost for Nvidia's 400 series dx11 cards, while adding support for Blu-ray 3D and lossless surround sound. They also add support for OpenGL 4.1 and come with a brand new driver installer.

....not only that, but the 260.93 beta is also out.

I am having some curious instant clock resets on my 460 and they seem so freagin unnatural. Never seen this on a graphics card before.

A guy in my Youtube channel told me he had the same issue in Dawn of War II. Any GTX 460 owners here?

No, I do not own a card like that, but I did have my share of problems with a bleeding edge card before.
I had issues with resets, hangs and crashes with my new card - I had to RMA the card two times until it was working correctly.
Such are the problems with new hardware...

Ok thanks mate.

I kinda think it's driver related. I mean I played Dawn of War II and had clock resets every 10 minutes or so. I played Lara Croft and I just saw a couple of clock resets. Now I play Grid and it's rock solid (with the latest beta driver). Maybe they have done something stupid, dunno. It also runs Furmark torture test just fine, while I haven't seen a sinlge artifact whatsoever. When cards start going south, they are artifacting.

Anyway, I'll hold onto it for a little while longer and I'll see how it goes.

Well, this is how it started for me - artifacts in Oblivion.
Then, I got crashes in newer games, BSOD with older ones.

The thing is, each game utilized the GPU, the shaders the memory differently. So, most games will work fine, but there will might a few that - by putting certain components to the limit - will always artifact/crash/etc.

It might be the cooling as well, though it's hard to check without voiding the warranty.

In any case, you need to have a good reason to RMA it, so hod onto it, do your rounds and note all errors along the way.
