Duke Nukem Forever 3x bigger than MW2 - briefly|
| (hx) 11:56 AM CEST - Oct,14 2010 | C&VG has an interesting article
in which Gearbox president Randy Pitchford explains the size of Duke
Nukem Forever:
DNF is now, miraculously, due for release next year. We've played it -
and it's surprisingly impressive. "It's gonna be big," Pitchford told
CVG. "Duke is a big, triple-A title. "The campaign is huge.
It's probably three times the size of the last Call Of Duty game. And
it's great through and through. "Any time I play I play it,
at any given moment, I'm having a great time and I want to see the next
moment. There's crazy set-pieces and, in that regard... if you're
expecting this to be a fizzle-out, a low budget thing, you're going to
be like: 'Holy shit! Oh my God! This is no joke!'" "If you're expecting
perfect, there's no such thing as perfect. I don't think anything can
up to 12 years, but I think it's astonishing how big it is - especially
given how it's suddenly here. To people that are on the outside, it
[appears to have] come out of nowhere "

| Sabot | (02:40 PM CEST - Oct,14 2010 ) | Fantastic comparrison: COD and Duke? Who the fuck writes these??
I fail to find the link? Oh of course it's GEARBOX! Now what can we relate Duke Nukem to guys? Hell COD of course.....numbskiulls
What next, the Sims 3 is twice as big as GTA5..........
These two games have nothing in common, bar the fact that they have linear design. After that we're into funky weapons, aliens and weird shit!
COD is run 'n' gun; aim shoot, aim shoot repeat ad nausium. There is fuck all that can even be called a storyline. At least in Duke it's CRAZY fun but with weapons that are radical.
In COD that is one game that should be like OFP and played on HUGE environments, not fucking corridors........
That reviewers opinion is about as much unbiased as M$ saying they are REALLY into PC gaming and no we don't have ulterior motives....selling the next OS? Who.. we..?

 indeed that is funny, but have to give them credit for even bringing the comparison up, I'm sure selling/promoting DNF that way will work actually, but even though that has been said I don't see DNF as a game that will have a high singleplayer re-playability, though I hope I'm wrong because there are many ways that can be achieved without having to resort to such lame gimmicks as well consolized 'achievements'.
Also I'm still curious about the multiplayer, the Gearbox survey that was brought up a few days ago was pretty weak. I don't know what they were expecting to get from that in feedback that would help them implement a good multiplayer side for DNF. I just don't picture them actually reading written feedback and taking direct action on implementing said requests.
| Tom | (05:51 PM CEST - Oct,14 2010 ) | Well for those of us who don't sit and just make up things to put people to sleep or bore the shit out of people like you guys.. I'll translate for you..
There is no comparison at all to COD, they just took a popular game most people know and played. Oh boy what a crime! MW2 sp was 7 hours on average so one with a grain of intelligence could take that and multiply it by 3 and get somewhere around 15-20 hours of single player. I say 15 because naturally some of the more advanced fps gamers will finish it faster. I'm not saying there wont be some who can finish it in even less than that. I for one will take my time exploring sp in DNF.
A lot in community, though nothing is definite assume there is going to be and SDK. They aren't saying at this time. If memory serves 3D Realms had licensed several companies technologies incorporated into DNF and consented to those companies to open their tech to other game developers. Although this is a loose basis for making claims of and SDK, others I know that were even closer to DNF news tidbits believe there will be a SDK on release or shortly after release. I'd be saddened if there was not. I'd like to go back to modding and mapping and DNF would be a great return.
The survey was to get a feel from the community on what they were expecting in or from MP. It was a good success and they got a tremendous amount of feedback. Guys like me got certain assurances of mp modes that were discussed a long long time ago on 3d realms forums with George and company.
This game is going to kick ass man I can't wait.
| Csimbi | (07:48 PM CEST - Oct,14 2010 ) | ggrobot> It's gonna be big
A few thoughts:
- Yeah, well, we've seen "big" games down the toilet.
- It won't fit on a floppy? Well, the original Duke3D did not, so it's not a big deal.
- It's going to be a bigger hit than x game? Well, people are different to chances are good that x is considered to be a lame game.
It would help a little if you defined "big".

 That sir is funny and made this worth the read, unlike the other dribble.
What's the bolded text for? Hopefully not an attempt to prove it is comparing gameplay of COD to Duke..

x <= represents the name of any game that the reader considers good.
I made it bold because there might be a game called "x".
I did not want to name any because everyone has different ideas about a good game.
