Ubisoft's DRM Failure - briefly|
| (hx) 10:19 PM CET - Mar,08 2010 | The Ubisoft Forums have various posts from customers (thanks BluesNews) who were unable to play games protected by Ubisoft's online DRM yesterday because the DRM servers were offline:
Posted Sun March 07 2010 03:16
So i finished the game yesterday, had no problems with the DRM at all, tried to get in today again, and it failed epicly, 5 minutes to log in, and when i try to acces a save slot, it says connecting and gets stuck, while trying to acces Uplay it just says that it can't connect to Ubi servers.

I'm also having the same problem. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to log in then once the game loads up and I go to select Story Mode it tries to find a connection again... this goes on for a while, sometimes it wont even get past this part. However when it does get past it doesn't show my save file - which leads me to believe my progress has been lost. Immensely annoying. So yeah... whats the deal? Any ideas?

This is so frustrating! I want to play a game when I want, not when the game company feels like allowing me. I bought this game, heck I didn't even noticed the price tag, because I knew this game would be epic (in my taste at least), then I play it all night and was utterly impressed.
But at this moment I'm stuck at some stupid Ubisoft Game Launcher, that is trying to log me into A SINGLE PLAYER GAME WITHOUT ONLINE PLAY, but it can't connect to the servers! WTF?!?!?! This needs to be corrected ASAP. You so-called piracy protection worked for a fuill 2 days! WOW! THere's pirated versions all over the net already. So all with a pirated copy now laughs their asses off, playing the game, while us paying and some very loyal costumers, are left with a bitter taste in our mouths, and wondering how this can be right...
Ubisoft issued a brief statement regarding the outage that users were seeing over the weekend. Basically, they're blaming an Internet Hacker Gang (IHG) for launching an attack on their servers:
Apologies to anyone who couldn’t play ACII or SH5 yesterday. Servers were attacked which limited service from 2:30pm to 9pm Paris time
95% of players were not affected, but a small group of players attempting to open a game session did receive denial of service errors
Update: Ubisoft tweets that their DRM servers are experiencing another denial of service attack! LOL :-) Looks like Ubisoft's decision to put this kind of copy protection in their current and future PC games is unwanted and should be reconsidered by the company :-) |

edit: only defense (real defense) is to ban an whole range of IP's, hopefully they will ban half of N. America and we will have some more laughs :D | |
