Modern Warfare 2 PC Unfinished; 9v9 Multiplayer Max - briefly
(hx) 12:58 AM CET - Nov,05 2009
Here is a recent Q&A session
with Infinity Ward about the PC version of Modern Warfare 2. Included
is some follow-up to the revelation that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
will not include dedicated server support: "Our goal is to provide the
best experience for our users, so nothing is ever 'off the table'. We
are always evaluating our options." A couple of other new bits of info
were also pinned down, one a confirmation that with all this talk about
IW.net being a superior alternative to dedicated servers, multiplayer
games will indeed be hosted by one of the players, and that the limit
for multiplayer games is 18 players on a nine-on-nine match. Other
topics center around DLC on the PC (no comment was really given one way
or another on if there will be a fee for PC DLC), clan issues,
cheaters, and more.
In other news, Treyarch's community manage Josh Olin announced via
Twitter yesterday that Treyarch is still supporting the PC
with Modern Warfare 2 just days away:
Good news - the team here at Treyarch are preparing a 1.7 patch to wrap
up a few of the lingering issues surrounding the PC version of the
game. Here's a snippet from the 1.7 readme:
* Fixed a voice chat crash on systems with no default
recording device selected.
* Fixed an issue causing erroneous duplicate qport errors.
* Server admins can disable team switching by setting
g_allow_teamchange to 0. Players will be restricted to Auto-Assign in
team-based gametypes.
The team is just putting the finishing touches on it before sending it
off to QA for testing. No ETA is planned yet, but I'll update when I
get better clarity on its progress.
Looks like MW2 won't be out until November 13th on Steam now. Not sure
if it's regular practice for games to be delayed via Steam but as
opposed to buying it in the store but that's a three day delay.

 jeesh they are fucking idiots.
Multiplayer on that game sounds a like a complete waste of time, better to just leave it for the noobs. Actually they should have just kept that scrap on the consoles.

Way I see it, based on a lot of beta's I've been in, they will increase the maximum players as soon as they get things tuned up. I'm not worried or concerned at all. I don't mind starting off with limited players as it also makes it more personal rather than the spray and pray prevalent in MW1.

True pc gamers? What a joke! You mean true pc whiners. Go play your COD4 cheat infested hunk of junk and wallow in your own self pity.
