Dragon Age Character Creator Released - mod&map
(hx) 01:41 AM CEST - Oct,14 2009
As promised, BioWare has released a stand-alone character creator (direct link ~ 320MB) for their highly anticipated Fantasy-RPG, Dragon Age: Origins. This free download allows you to mess around with different character configurations and save them to your HD in preparation for the game's launch on November 3rd - 6th. In addition, BioWare is offering an exclusive in-game item to folks who upload their custom-characters to the official BioWare Social Network. The item is a ring called "The Lucky Stone", which adds +1 to all stats. So don't miss out! ;)

Was taking some shots for a thread on another forum but wrote something on it as there was a "What do you think of it?" thread also so I'll just post it here too.

Similar to Mass Effect if you have played it, results are of decent quality in character gen, if they keep the quality in-game remains to be seen but what your actually able to adjust will do one of two things, if “char gen” is something you enjoy this games version of it will irritate you. It's painfully limited and after all these years of trying it would appear Bioware still haven’t worked out default sliders for a basic average human face shape yet so instead of “average” being in the middle of the scale its way over to one side on many elements like the eye position making them positioned far to high on the face by default, lowing it to the minimum puts them in the "correct" place for a non lvl 5 alarm bells mutant but also warps their shape making it less appealing all in all making it more limiting than I personally would like.

There is also problems like a distinct lack of pre set eye shapes with very limited sliders available to make adjustments giving all characters a very samey look.

On the other side of the coin, if “char gen” doesn’t float your boat and you’re the sort to take the default and click play then there will be more than adequate options available.

Last but not least, no body options whatsoever, what year is this again? Additionally as you can clearly see in the full length body shot sections in the following images the bodies are hideously disproportioned.

And now, some quickies.
