Windows 7 Causing Diablo 2 Video Troubles - tech|
| (hx) 12:35 AM CEST - Oct,10 2009 | Planet Diablo outlines problems users have been reporting trying to run Diablo II under Windows 7:
Players may want to hold off upgrading just yet, as we've received reports of video rendering troubles on the Diablo II Support Forum and elsewhere around the interwebs. Some have found they are unable to run the game fullscreen, while others have experienced blank screens, random black squares littering the screen, or crashes otherwise.
Meanwhile, there may be some solutions in store. One gamer reports success running the game in the new OS' backwards compatibility mode, specifically using the Service Pack 2 version of Windows XP. Diagnostics on Blizzard's site may help as well, though the support document doesn't yet specifically mention Windows 7.
On the Mac side, the latest OS incarnation dubbed Snow Leopard appears to run Diablo II smoothly. However, the game does require Rosetta to be installed on Macs with Intel processors, and this is one option left unselected by default in the operating system's installation process.
