Deus Ex 3 to return to series' roots - briefly
(hx) 03:13 AM CET - Mar,27 2009
NowGamer is reporting some snippets from Jean Francois Dugas, lead designer on Deus Ex 3, the action/RPG sequel. Deus Ex 3's lead designer has said the third iteration in the action-RPG franchise will return to the "core values" of the original Deus Ex! Deus Ex 3 is out on PS3, 360 and PC later in the year.
"We ultimately decided to focus more on the first game," said Jean Francois Dugas. "...In terms of being a Deus Ex game, we keep the core gameplay essence alive, which is a hybrid of action-RPG in which the core gameplay mechanics revolve around combat, stealth, hacking, and social aspects."

The Montreal-based dev team are also ensuring that Deus Ex 3's levels are more expansive than those in the second game - "think Hong Kong in Deus Ex 1," said Dugas.

I just don’t trust dev’s anymore, particularly when the title in question has been anywhere near a 360, time and again PC games have been debased and utterly destroyed, in some cases entire genres have been ethnically cleansed to the brink of extinction.

I’ll believe it when/if I see it.

Same. I wont touch this with a 10 foot pole if the reviews are borderline. I bought their last iteration which was a complete bullocks.

There will never be another Deus Ex -like the first one. The empahsis is always on graphics with linear gameplay, or two paths to chose. Also, the possibilities of setting traps etc with the first game was brilliant, due to the layout of the levels. Like Fallout 3, it looks superb then you find you can't go half the places....
