Fallout 3 - The Pitt DLC preview - preview
(hx) 02:51 PM CET - Feb,20 2009
Developer Bethesda has just revealed the first three screenshots from its second downloadable Fallout 3 expansion, The Pitt. Allowing PC and Xbox 360 owners to explore post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh, the premium-priced download hits in March. In addition, GameSpy and PC.IGN have previews of the second DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt after some play time at the D.I.C.E. Summit.
There's at least one new enemy type to deal with in The Pitt as well. The mutation that is affecting the slaves can literally be seen on their faces. Everyone you talk with is in some slight state of decay, but the worst of it can be found just outside the camp's main walls. Like the irradiated ghouls, some folks have been driven to feral states by this contamination. The locals refer to them as Trogs and, though they aren't the toughest of enemies, they aren't exactly friendly.

You may have already guessed it by the name of the download, but shortly before my hour of playing was up I reached a pit-fighting arena quest. You'll have to go toe-to-toe with some of the nastiest inhabitants of Pittsburgh in a pit that is filled with barrels leaking radiation everywhere.

If you weren't thrilled with Operation: Anchorage's heavy focus on combat, you'll likely enjoy The Pitt a lot more. There's lots of dialogue, several side quests, and a bigger emphasis on exploration for this second game add-on. There are several different ways you can approach the process of getting into the slave camp. I decided to just walk up and say hi. That didn't go over so well with the slavers. And if you're worried that all of this "saving the day" business is going to turn your evil character good, don't. I found at least one place to be nasty inside of the steel mill. While the slaves sweated with steel production, one slave had carved out a niche for himself. He sells information to his captors as a snitch. Give him some juicy gossip and he'll trade you some stimpaks for the info.
