Deus Ex 3 May Not Hit Consoles - briefly
(hx) 05:41 PM CEST - Oct,22 2008
While it was initially believed that the long-awaited third Deus Ex game would hit PC and consoles, this new interview with Eidos Montreal lead designer Jean-Francois Dugas suggests that the 2009-due shooter-RPG prequel could be a PC-exclusive:
But he said developer Eidos Montreal would not attempt to dumb down the much-loved RPG-shooter franchise. "At this point we don't know exactly which platforms we're going to be out on. The PC, we'll be there for sure. But for us, console-isation isn't about dumbing down features. If we're to go console we will want to keep the complexity alive. We want the menu interface and controller to feel simple without risking any of their potential"
Wow. Is it possible they learned from Deus Ex 2? Maybe they care about the franchise and want to return to thier roots...I hope so. Anyway, full interview and exclusive screens in the new issue of Edge, on sale October 23 in the UK, and within a week or so in North America and Continental Europe. In related news, Electronic Arts have revealed that console releases of both Star Wars and EA Mythic's PC-only MMO Warhammer Online are being considered.

i definitely buy at least 2 copies if it will be pc exclusive. İ hate consoles and their intolerant harm to gaming.

Eh, how exactly does consoles harm gaming?

by reducing the complexity of games. Games become more superficial day after day.

Your referal to PC gaming becoming "superficial".
This was after the death of 'The manual' -or more to the point the dev's/publishers killed off complex gaming for cost reasons and switched to DVD boxes with an addendum in them, sorry, manual.
Besides, it's the dev's choice to 'dumb down' a true PC game, look at the joke that was Deus Ex: Invisible War. Warren Spector's baby whom he murdered, the resulting poor sales were nothing but their own fault.
You can't blame consoles, it's the dev's choice to make a game with a fantastic story/plot. You don't need a million keyboard buttons to make a good game, just a dedicated developer. Nowadays it's like life, everyone wants the easy route to make money. That easy route is an SDK or A to B.
Saying that, there are some very, very good -original- titles on console. But like the whole subject it's subjective

Good point, Stumpus. :)

On that point would then be that a games complexity in it self is very superficial and is at the hand of its maker to do what he deems suitable.

Food for thought: the PC is one of many platforms forming a not so homogeneous market - which is good. Why? Since over two decades of electronic entertainment have proved a few interesting things: certain types of games work best on certain types of platform. I prefer sitting in my chair, glaring at the TV with a controller in my hand for my RPGs, while MMO or FPS games - as general rule of thumb, works smoother on the PC.

If PC is dieing as platform of games - which seems a bit subjective at the moment, it's not at the hand of a device like the Wii.
