 TechNews - Core 2 Duo E7400 launches on Oct 19th - tech
(hx) 02:25 AM CEST - Sep,16 2008
  • New Core 2 Duo E7400 launches on October 19th - Just like the current Core 2 Duo E7300, the new chip will have a pair of 45nm cores, 3MB of shared L2 cache, and a 1066MHz front-side bus. The E7300 currently retails for around $140, but since it runs at only 2.66GHz, Intel will reportedly drag it down to $113 upon the E7400's arrival.
  • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Tested - At ~$140, this is a very expensive soundcard and may be too much for the average user to justify, especially if you don't already have a good set of speakers or headphones to match it.
  • Lenovo Halts Sales Of Linux PCs Online - Due to poor demand, Lenovo has announced that it will stop selling Linux based PCs online
  • VLC media player 0.9.2 Released - VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols
  • Microsoft defends IE8 'phone home' feature - MS is saying that the browser "phones home" only a limited amount of information to Microsoft and that the company discards all user IP addresses almost immediately
  • Best Buy Nabs Napster for $121 Million - It looks as though Best Buy has bought Napster for $121 million.
  • Large Hadron Collider: A whistlestop tour (video) - So, when will the LHC start actually colliding particles? Not for a while, the New Scientist explains. "It will be several weeks before physicists accelerate two proton beams travelling in opposite directions to their full energy of 7 teraelectronvolts, and smash them head on."
  • Large Hadron Collider Hacked - The hackers were stopped before they could access the Collider's central computer system, but were described by the Telegraph as being "one step away" from full control of the CMS. They deleted one as-yet publicly unidentified file -- the hacker equivalent, perhaps, of counting coup.
  • NIN Dazzles With Lasers, LEDs and Stealth Screens - Everyone got a laugh out of the picture of the BSOD on the big screen at that NIN concert but, technical glitches aside, you have to admit that the tech behind the show is downright impressive.
  • Why you don't park in front of a fire hydrant (pic) - This guy got exactly what he deserved.
  • Will The 4x4 Make it? (video) - Woot
  • Hot Chicks Auctions Off Her Virginity (video) - Some hot chick decides to auction away her virginity to the highest bidder. I love the one girls opinion that its actually noble of her as long as she is receiving money.
  • Nadine Velazquez FHM Photos - Nadine knew at age 13 that she was destined to be an actress, so it shouldn't come as a surprise if you recognized her from the television comedy My Name is Earl.
