Diablo 3 Announcement Next Month - briefly|
| (hx) 07:19 PM CEST - May,21 2008 | Rumors are running rampant that Blizzard Entertainment may officially reveal
its action-RPG sequel Diablo 3 next month. PC Gamer magazine has teased that its
next issue--due around June 30--will feature a "top-secret cover story so huge
we had to go to [CENSORED] to get it," and fansite
Blizzplanet has responded with the following points to back speculation that
the timing and phrasing suggests Diablo 3:
- Blizzard held a press event at its studio in early May.
- Blizzard is holding its 2008 Worldwide Invitational from June 28-29.
- Diablo II shipped in North America on June 29, 2000.
- Diablo II: Lord of Destruction shipped in Europe on June 29, 2001.
- StarCraft II was announced at last year's Worldwide Invitational.
Update: After causing a tidal wave of speculation, PC Gamer has confirmed that Blizzard's long-awaited action-RPG Diablo 3 is not revealed within its August issue. "We're officially squelching the Diablo rumor," the magazine clarified to Voodoo Extreme. "We've got two big announcements coming in our August issue, but neither is from Blizzard."

last 10 comments: | Koogle | (09:40 PM CEST - May,21 2008 ) | WoW is so old hat I'm sure they would love to keep milking that one with the fans for a few years to come.. but many pc gamers will want something a bit more upto date so there is no doubt that it would be a Diablo sequel what better title to work on after finally getting around to finishing some colorful kindergarten starcraft2 port.. ready for a new generation of noobs.. because I don't see the old SC generation liking this new Starcraft much.. way too cartoonish, bet the music and sound effects even took a turn for the worse.
places bet on Diablo being online only and with a monthly payment scheme.... that shoudl keep the monies flooding into blizztard corp

They may produce a similar D2 model unfortunately the MMO option will only cannibalise WOW mmo dominance/market share (rules MMO option out). Hopefully realistic models and artwork akin to the originals and lightyears away from WOW cartoony nickelodeon style for kids.
I'd still prefer an MMO version this is what blizzard should have done before creating the World of Wank trash.
