Crysis Patch Patch Delayed - briefly
(hx) 10:13 PM CET - Dec,21 2007
The chaps over at The InCrysis have word from Crytek on the status of Crysis patches, the SDK, and the Linux dedicated server:
Patch #1 - Scheduled Release- Based on this feedback we will be able to set a release date for the long awaited Patch #1 for Crysis. If no major problems occur we expect to have it available for public download within January 2008. This is of course related to the reports from the QA departments, but we are confident to match the schedule.

Patch #1 - Content -
The last time we have provided you with a rough list of fixes the patch will include. Today we would like to go a bit more into detail and mention the major changes/bug fixes. Patch #1 is still meant to be a performance patch and does not include major gameplay changes or new features. These are being addressed in Patch #2, but more about that further below. So here is the major change log for Patch #1:

Fixes
- Damage dealt to vehicles when shot by LAW has been made consistent
- F12 (screenshot) now works in restricted mode as well
- When player melees during gun raise animation, their gun will not be in a permanently raised position anymore
- Memory leaks and potential crashes
Updates
- Improved SLI / Crossfire support and performance
- Improved overall rendering performance (DX9 and DX10)
- Enabled VSync functionality in D3D10
Tweaks
- Reduced grenade explosion radius in multiplayer
- Clamped water tessellation to avoid cheating in MP
- Reduced LAW splash damage vs. infantry in PowerStruggle mode
- Slowed Rocket projectile speed down in MP slightly

Patch #2 for Crysis will address this topic and provides full Mod support for both Singleplayer and Multiplayer. Not only that the current problems with loading up a mod in Crysis are fixed, additionally the game menu includes a mod loading system. Thus we decided to delay the SDK release until the second Patch has been finished in order to provide you with a correctly working Mod set up for the game.

You cant fix a game which is buggered due to performance, design and story issues, hopefully a mod will regain some of these.

Never believe the hype it's marketing remember !

Memory leaks and potential crashes... the memory leaks are really bad, ill be in the game for 20min then i lose 30 FPS ... thats a big leak ..to bad,

This is pathetic support!
The priorities are all wrong...the game is SP primarily, not MP.
The fact that they cannot address the SP issues first, means it's more than likely going to be a BIG patch....
Regardless, this shipped in this state AND it's EA behind it, so they have the resources to have worked on the SP patch before it hit retail.
The fact that pi$$es me off is the scripts and triggers *MAIN STORYLINE* just don't work right through the game.
It's not that it's a PC hardware/driver or config problem either? It's just shoddy testing and BAD game code. There's NO excuse for no BASIC END LEVEL testing, you have to use the -devmode console command to complete it.
Is this how THEY tested it.....
If this had been a budget company and a first release, it could be excused. But it's EA -like they OWN nearly everything sold on PC or console and Crytek have fallen big-time off their high horse.

Weird...I have almost no problems running the game (yeah, I don't even try to run at anywhere near max settings tho). No memory leaks (even after playing for hours).

My only problem is audio. Sometimes (usually) the in-game cut-scenes where other characters are talking overlap each other...meaning they all say their dialogue at the same time...which is kinda not good.

Other than that the game runs perfectly on my crappy 2 year old (and not bleeding edge even then) system. Single player only...MP is kinda pointless on dialup.

turn your settings higher, you'll get the leaks... more texters/shadows more memory.... more memory leaks... the game will run fine like i say good fps.. the all of a sudden BAM.. i lose alot of FPS and i can finnish what i started...

i really like the single player... i love games with stealth reminds me of predator.. it should be aliens VS predator VS crysis lol....

Good point Stumpus this is a clear example when you globalise a market its good for shareholders but not for the end users whom enrich these fatcats. In other words mediocrity abound and without a creative cell between them just hype fancy graphics and performance eating behemoth.

I love the part where he realizes he's acting like Hitler and pulls it together a bit.

It would be a good engine for someone to use to make the next AvP game...hint hint.

You know, assuming they fix it first.
