Soldier of Fortune Payback Ships Out - briefly
(hx) 09:41 PM CET - Nov,14 2007
Activision sent out a press release announcing that Soldier of Fortune: Payback is shipping, and the mercenary shooter sequel is now available in North American stores:
Soldier of Fortune Payback thrusts players into adrenaline-pumping mercenary combat action after a routine escort mission goes horribly wrong. The game evolves the signature gameplay of its predecessors with refined controls, tension-packed warzones, and an enemy damage system that may be shocking even to experienced FPS players. Players are armed with an impressive arsenal of more than 30 weapons, including sub-machine guns, assault rifles, and projectile explosives, as they hunt down an insidious enemy that respects neither laws, nations, nor armies. The game also offers individual and team based online modes including: Death Match, Team Death Match, Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture the Flag and Demolition.

Soldier of Fortune Payback is rated M for Mature and is now available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for a suggested retail price of $59.99 and the PC for $39.99. Soldier of Fortune Payback will be available for PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system on November 21 for $59.99.
Update: The first PC patch for Soldier Of Fortune: Payback has been released, updating the just released first person shooter from Cauldron and Activision to version 1.1. The small patch fixes some display bugs and issues with Windows Vista

i have to agree the original series were more polished and entertaining, this isnt. What really gets on my nerves is that no matter how silent or stealthy you are the mobs have a six sense way of finding you. Another gripe is the mobs also spawn from thin air yards away from you once you've reached a checkpoint.

You are limited in scaling walls and jumping over obstacles as the maps are designed to force you into going only one way, this reminds me of lame programmed games of the mid 90's. I guess when you rush a title and pay peanuts dont expect monkey programmed lame ass games.

I can sense this becoming a £5 bargain basement title, i'd rather buy a pizza you get more satisfaction and the enjoyment lasts longer.

Hang your heads in shame ACTIVISION !

I didn't think the second one was all that great..

This game has nothing to do with the actual SOF series. Activision took this off Raven's hands and gave it to some third developer who just made a complete laugh of the game.

My eyes almost bleed, and I didn't find that funny at all :)
