  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare preview - CoD4 doesn't mess with the basics: all the multiplayer modes you want are here. Where it gets interesting is with the ability to adapt and customise your character in some surprising ways. In other news, Yahoo Games has revealed that a PC single player demo of Call of Duty 4 will be released on Thursday, Oct. 11.
  • Crysis Previewed - 1UP, IGN, and GameSpot have posted their impressions from Crysis, soon-to-be-released FPS. "It goes without saying at this point that Crysis looks amazing. We played on dual-core and quad-core PCs that had a single 8800GTX video card, and the performance was fairly smooth, though there were slight pauses at the beginning of each mission as textures and assets were loaded into the game for the first time. Although we were running machines capable of DirectX 10 graphics, EA and Crytek had us playing the DX 9 version of the game, and it still looked amazing."

  • Pirates of the Burning Sea in January - This press release announces SOE will be launching Pirates of the Burning Sea on January 22, 2008, and that preorders of Flying Lab Software's seafaring MMORPG begin on October 23, which will allow access to the full game 15 days before that launch.
  • The 40GB PS3 Is Now Official, UK Gets A Price Drop - After weeks of speculation Sony has officially unveiled the lower-spec 40GB PlayStation 3 and has announced that it's heading to the UK on October 10 at the cut-down cost of 299 GBP. What's more, Sony is also slashing the cost of the 60GB PS3 down to 349 GBP. The lower capacity hard drive aside, the entry level 40GB PS3 only has two USB ports (compared to the usual four), the multi-memory card port has confirmed.
