- Intel Reveals 'Larrabee' Teraflop Processor -
Intel's code-named Larrabee processor, which seems to be an array of
computational arithmetic logic units (ALUs) with caches as well as memory controller, will be capable of processing 'well in excess' of a teraflop of data, according to Justin Rattner, Intel Corp.'s chief technology officer.
The processor is set for release in 2010, but could show up in 2009, Mr.
Rattner is quoted to have said.
- ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT, 2600 Pro, and 2400 XT tested -
These cards are
obviously not geared to hardcore gamers - the Radeon HD 2600 XT,
performed about on par with or markedly behind a GeForce 8600 GT.
- Mid-range 65nm GeForce 8 coming in November -
The card will
feature a new G92 graphics processor that will be based on 65nm process
technology, just like the RV630 and RV610 GPUs in AMD's new Radeon HD 2600
and 2400 cards. The G92 will feature a 256-bit memory interface and will
support the PCI Express 2.0 specification, which offers twice the bandwidth
of first-generation PCIe. Performance of G92-based products will lie
somewhere between that of the 8800 GTS and 8600 GTS.
