StarCraft II: The Response - interview|
| (hx) 10:40 AM CEST - May,29 2007 | The chaps over at
PC.IGN
have published their collective thoughts about
StarCraft 2. Here's an
excerpt:
Dan: I'm still a bit surprised at the lack of innovative new features
shown at the event. I suppose that it doesn't necessarily mean that they won't
innovate at all, but they did basically say that they're going back to basics. I
assume this to mean a slightly improved basic resource management system (which
will apparently be just as important as it was in StarCraft) and they'll keep
the gameplay fast (they're saying 20 minute games or so I believe) and furious.
I can't say that I'm entirely surprised by the decision, but I am a little
disappointed considering the resources that Blizzard has at their disposal. I'm
not sure I wanted any gigantic changes here, but there have been some terrific
innovations and ideas that have enhanced RTS gameplay in the years since the
original StarCraft, and even Warcraft III, was released. Do you think this was
done entirely to keep the e-sports crowd happy in Korea so that the same
competitors would want to grab and basically promote the product or do you think
they really just didn't want to screw with a formula they set out years ago that
was successful at the time? Obviously the new units look like a lot of fun and
will change the gameplay dynamics fairly drastically from a tactical standpoint,
but it doesn't look like there'll be much else new to consider when playing a
game. What do you guys think about it? I'm having a hard time being totally
upset because it still looked like a lot of fun, but it's pretty baffling to me
that they wouldn't take any risks with this when they have the time and
basically unlimited resources to make this happen.
What's your opinion? What do you expect from StarCraft 2?

not every game that comes out needs to be new in features, the Starcraft players will love this game as long as its not changed to much from the original.
| pimeto | (02:36 PM CEST - May,29 2007 ) | well i must say that the people that write these articles are total morons!
they just keep writing shit to keep theare web pages active...
what a f**kin retards!
sorry but, how can you say such things when you only see one or two game play trailers ?!
the information on the SC2 web site is insufficient. they posted info on couple of proton units.
and people starting to talk abouth the whole game  omfg.
this is blizzard after all! they dont make stupid games, they dont release stupid games just for the sport, as some other companies...
and blizzard do keep the presure until the last moment, so i am expecting a lot of surprizes !!!
the time will show.
they are not stupid enouf not to know that all the fans of the game, and not only, will expect a realy fantastic new game, rather than dissapointment ;)
and one last thing, what are these innovations and gamplay ideas that were invented lately ?
to be honnes, i dont know one realy that is worth it
| djRom | (05:27 PM CEST - May,29 2007 ) | So far it looks like it will be...
"Starcraft... 2"
Hell, I think Korea would start riots if they didn't keep the game the same. lol
| Nosferatu | (08:55 PM CEST - May,29 2007 ) | I really liked what I've seen in the 20 minute video. I don't get those people who say it's just a tweaked WC3 engine, because it's so much not! Great technology shown by Blizzard, beautiful art... basically I liked everything.
After all, as was already said, it's Blizzard at work! Come on, they don't make ok games, they make the best.
I don't think there is something to worry about.
| milly | (01:33 AM CEST - May,30 2007 ) | | Useless read. Not a useful word said in the article at all. | |
