- Quad-Core Mobile Penryn In 2008 - ITWorld says that
Intel has plans for a quad-core Penryn mobile processor for high end
gaming and mobile workstations.
- GeForce 8600 GT and GTS Shootout -
The new
mainstream flagship is the GeForce 8600 GTS, which takes the spot
previously held by the GeForce 7900 GS. NVIDIA slots the GeForce 8600 GTS
below the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB, which currently occupies the $299-$329
price points. GeForce 8600 GTS based products fill in the $199-229 price
points. However, if you own 7600 GT, 7900 GS, or X1950
Pro, then don't upgrade to GeForce 8600 GTS!!! Check out
this STALKER benchmark and you will understand why :-( Looks like I'm
waiting for the R600.
- Intel introduces 9 TB quad-core storage server - With 750 GB
currently the highest capacity available,
the SSR212MC2
tops out at 9 TB capacity which, however, will soon increase to 12 TB
with 1 TB hard drives already knocking on our doors. The storage server
supports both Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS, up to 300 GB per drive)) or Serial
ATA (SATA) hard drives. Sweet! :-)
- Auzentech to Develop Sound Card Based on Creative X-Fi Chipset -
It will fully
support EAX 5.0 and have the same expandability as the Auzen X-Meridian
