TechNews - RV630 & RV610 delayed again - tech|
| (hx) 08:30 PM CEST - Apr,12 2007 |
- RV630 & RV610 delayed again + R600 claims free FSAA - It
looks like AMD will have to skip one more deadline. It is likely that it
won't launch the RV630 and RV610 alongside the highly anticipated R600. In
other news, Fudzilla reports that
the R600 might
feature free FSAA and AF in some modes.
- Nvidia GF8600/8500/8300 details revealed -
In a nutshell,
G84 has 32 scalar shaders, G86 has only 16. It will be interesting to
see how Nvidia's simplistic, but highly effective scalar design cope with
less, but more complex vector units hidden inside R610/630/600/650 chips.
- Vista slower than XP at start-up, shutdown, gripe users -
A number of
Vista users are none too happy about Vista boot-up times.
- Windows XP OEM to be phased out by year's end -
January 2008 is
the cutoff date for OEM Windows XP. Could 2008 be "The Year of the
Penguin"? ;)

- Sony: 1,000,000:1 OLED TV on sale in 2007 -
Sony is finally ready to move an OLED TV into production sometime
"within 2007." Sorry, it's not the 27-incher, yet, their first production
unit will throw 1024 x 600 pixels across that wee 11-inch, 1M:1 contrast
panel capable of 8-bit RGB color and covering more than 100% of the NTSC
color gamut. Oh, and it's only 3-mm thick
- Toshiba Offers Sub-$500 1080p HD DVD Player -
Toshiba HD-A20 HD DVD player will actually debut at a price of $499.
Toshiba's HD-A20 supports full 1080p resolution unlike its cheaper HD-A2
brother which only supports up to 1080i. Unfortunately, the HD-A20 doesn't
feature the HDMI 1.3 interface and instead relies on HDMI 1.2. Without HDMI
1.3, the HD-A20 misses out on xvYCC support, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master
Audio and automatic audio syncing.
- Sony Studies Commercial PS3 Supercomputing Grid -
Sony is currently kicking around the idea of offering product discounts
and other incentives to PlayStation 3 owners that use their consoles to be
part of a supercomputing grid for research.

A woman and her mother Wednesday sued Best Buy Stores after a technician
from a computer company allegedly recommended by an employee of the
electronics firm videotaped the woman taking a shower. Hmmm...So, where's
the tape?
- BMW to present its motocycle 'F 800S' -

motocycle is powered by 80 bhp 2-cylinder in-line engine with 85
horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
- Shakira Beyonce - Beautiful Liar video clip - It's totally
off-topic here, but
the long
anticipated duet Shakira-Beyonce finally has a video! :-)

last 10 comments: | xxxx | (10:16 PM CEST - Apr,13 2007 ) | The only plausible reasons in my mind ATI is delaying cards is because:
1- Nothing is DX10 yet.
2- nVidia DX10 cards are not meeting sales expectations.
3- They are waiting for nVidia to output their cards 'currently in holding'.
ATI and AMD are both hurting, they can't afford any further mistakes. | |
