TechNews - AMD Releases Final 'R600' Specs - tech
(hx) 12:37 PM CET - Feb,17 2007
  • Corsair Twin2X2048-6400 C3 2GB PC2-6400 - Corsair's Twin2X2048-6400C3 memory is the first DDR2-800 class memory that can run with a CAS Latency of 3. Finally there is some true low latency memory on the market, and as everyone knows, the AMD Athlon64 loves memory that uses tight timings. From 3DMark05, Doom 3 and Business Winstone 2004, everything was just faster on the Corsair Twin2X2048-6400C3.
  • Biostar P35 DDR2 & DDR3 Bearlake Boards - Apparently there are 2 motherboard models - DDR2 and DDR3. The higher end model named TP35D3-A7 Deluxe supports DDR3 800/1066MHz memories, 4 DIMM slots up to 8 GB, 1 x PCI-E x16, 3 x PCI-E x1, 2 x PCI Slots
  • AMD Releases Final 'R600' Specs - On March 30, 2007, AMD will initially debut the R600 as the ATI Radeon X2900 XTX in two separate configurations: one for OEMs and another for retail. 1GB of GDDR4 memory is the reference configuration for Radeon X2900 XTX! And 700 million transistors?!? Wow. Power will be something to see, and I really hope that it's a 65nm part!
  • GeForce 8600 cards to arrive in May? - The GeForce 8600 GT 512MB will cost $219-229 at launch, while the 256MB model will be available for $199, and the GeForce 8600 GS will sell between $159 and $165. If this information is genuine, it would suggest that the $229 GeForce 8600 GT will pack more onboard memory than the newly-introduced GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB. Cards for the masses... good stuff :-)
  • G84, Geforce 8600 to score 4500 in 3Dmark 06 - NVIDIA'S Geforce 8600 cards, based on the G84 die, should score about 4500 points in famous 3Dmark06.
  • Inkless printer to be built into digital cameras - The key to creating the devices is doing away with ink, using a new type of digital printing that changes colour of paper when heat is applied. The company recently demonstrated a working prototype of the camera phone printer at the DEMO 2007 technology conference in California, US. The printer is expected to cost $200 while 100 sheets of paper will cost $20.
  • AnyDVD HD 6.1.2.3 - AnyDVD HD comes with same functionality as AnyDVD, but with additional features for full HD-DVD (High Definition DVD) support, including decryption of HD-DVD movie discs.
  • JavaScript code leaves routers open to attack - The researchers found that it is possible to change the DNS, or Domain Name System, settings of a router if the owner uses a connected PC to view a Web page with the JavaScript code. This DNS change lets the attacker divert all the Net traffic going through the router. So, if you haven't changed the default password, you'd better do it.
  • Mobile Phone on Your Wrist - Talk time is a cool 200 minutes, and standby time is an amazing 80 hours. The screen isn't exactly huge, since it's a wristwatch, but it's a color OLED one, so at least you'll be entertained a bit.
  • Female Gamers Have More Sex - Now, I’m not saying that I doubt the results of this survey but it just seems a too good to be true that female gamers have more sex :-)
  • WildCard - Make sure you click the different numbers at the bottom!
  • Illegally Smuggled Dinosaur Eggs Worth $420,000 Seized By Customs - The 22 eggs, each 65 million years old, were so well-preserved that embryonic raptors are visible inside 19 of them. They were seized late last week from the Bonhams & Butterfields auction house in Los Angeles
  • Rage Against the Machine Coming Back?? Chris Cornell leaves Audioslave! - Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has announced he will be leaving the group due to "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences". There has been no further word on whether the band will continue without him, and if so, who would take over vocal duties
  • Deal or No Deal Shifts to Sundays - NBC will adjust its late-winter primetime schedule by moving "Deal or No Deal" to Sundays (9-10 p.m. ET) followed by "The Apprentice: Los Angeles" (10-11 p.m. ET) beginning Sunday, March 4. "Crossing Jordan" (currently Sundays, 10-11 p.m. ET) shifts to Wednesdays (9-10 p.m. ET) beginning March 7.
