 Details on the GeForce 8600 series revealed - tech
(hx) 01:57 PM CET - Jan,15 2007
The GeForce 8600GT and GeForce 8600 Ultra have been revealed with respective price points of $150 and $180 USD. When launched these will be the cheapest DirectX 10 compliant cards on the market. The prices are VERY competitive and will most likely drive the price of DX9 cards way down. So if you have a DX9 cards sell them while you can :-D
- 8600 Ultra: 64 SP, core 500 MHz, memory 1400 MHz, 512 MB, 256-bit, $179

- 8600 GT: 48 SP, core 350 MHz, memory 1200 MHz, 256 MB, 128-bit, $149

- 8300 GT: 32 SP, core 500 MHz, memory 1200 MHz, 256 MB, 128-bit, $99

- 8300 GS: 24 SP, core 500 MHz, memory 1000 MHz, 256 MB, 128-bit, $79
Well I think I found the card for my spring Conroe Build, the 8600 Ultra :-)

OK, I'm gonna go with 8600 Ultra. That's a really nice price tag i agree. Plus it's most likely twice as fast as 7600 or something like that.

But i can't believe they're still putting 128 bit memory buses on slower models.

// Edit

hx, u still have a 6800? :)

That's crazy, why would you get a 8600???? the 8900's are coming just nVidia is highlighting the 8600 now to sucker more sales in the coming months with cheaper prices. Your 8600 wont have a long life. Wait for 8900 and then get a 8800 at 50% off. Or even better, F the dying PC and get a console like the millions of others. 8) Oh and don't forget the lawsuit against nVidia and ATI. Things could change, not that I think for sure it will do anything, but you never know.
