Nvidia releases Vista RTM drivers - tech|
| (hx) 05:09 PM CET - Jan,08 2007 | In preparation for the retail launch of Windows Vista, which is scheduled for
January 30, Nvidia has released a new set of WHQL-certified ForceWare drivers in
both 32-bit flavor as well as the
64-bit variety. Nvidia says the drivers bring better application
compatibility and performance than previous ForceWare releases for Vista, as
well as a round of bug fixes. That said, the company stresses in its
release notes (PDF) that some functionality, such as SLI multi-GPU support
and DirectX antialiasing settings in the Nvidia control panel, isn't yet fully
implemented. Grab them if you need them.
NVIDIA has released the following WHQL certified drivers for use with Windows Vista RTM that will enable you to test the basic features and capabilities of the new operating system. These drivers are only compatible with Windows Vista RTM build 6000 and higher, and should not be used with other versions of Windows Vista.
In other Nvidia-related news, the company
has
completed its acquisition of PortalPlayer. Like a number of Apple's previous
iPods, the purported device
will
feature silicon designed by PortalPlayer, according to rumors.
