- Destination Treasure Island Announced -
Destination
Treasure Island is online, a noisy Flash home revealing development of
Kheops Studio's upcoming adventure game based on the Robert Louis Stevenson
novel. The English site offers some screenshots, while the
French
website offers the shots, a movie, and a French playable demo from the
game
- Spore Interview -
Joystiq posted a new Spore interview from the Montreal International
Game Summit. They speak with Chaim Gingold and Chris Hecker of EA/Maxis.
- Eragon ships -
Sierra announced today that the video game
Eragon, based on
the upcoming epic adventure film from Twentieth Century Fox is available at
retailers nationwide and will be followed by the feature film opening in
theatres nationwide on December 15th.
- EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer ships - Sony announced that
EverQuest II Echoes
of Faydwer is shipping to retail stores in North America and available
for purchase via digital download at
www.echoesoffaydwer.com. The retail version of the game is available for
a suggested retail price of $39.99, and includes the base EverQuest II game,
the Echoes of Faydwer expansion, and the two previously released expansions,
Desert of Flames and Kingdom of Sky. The digital version is also available
for a suggested retail price of $39.99 and includes the Echoes of Faydwer
expansion (requires EverQuest II base game to play).
- Gothic 3 ships - Aspyr Media announced today that its epic RPG
Gothic 3 for the PC has shipped to retail stores in North America. Featuring
a stunning, massive game world, a fascinating story, hundreds of quests and
more than 40 hours of gameplay, Gothic 3 will keep RPG fans glued to their
PCs for months to come.
- Happy Feet ships -
Midway announces the availability of Happy Feet, the cross-platform
tie-in with the animated tap-dancing penguin movie.
- Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate ships - The
expansion includes a wealth of new spells and abilities, 5 new single-player
maps, 10 new multiplayer maps, new buildings, new artifacts, and new neutral
creatures.
- Medieval II: Total War on Steam - Valve today announced an
agreement to deliver
Medieval II: Total War to Steam, the leading online digital distribution
platform for PC games. Featuring single player and multiplayer modes,
Medieval II: Total War will be made available to Steam customers in North
and South America on November 15, 2006 for $49.95.
- Sonic The Hedgehog ships (Xbox 360) - Featuring highlights from
Sonic's 15-year history, gamers will have the opportunity to play as
characters both returning and new. Sonic, Shadow and a new telekinetic
hedgehog from the future, Silver, are playable characters with storylines
that intersect along the way. Utilizing Sonic's unstoppable speed, Shadow's
vehicles and Silver's powerful telekinesis, the vast game environments can
be explored in a multitude of different ways, based on the characters'
specific abilities. Additionally, favorite Sonic friends including Tails,

- Star Wars Galaxies: The Complete Online Adventures ships -
The bundle includes the base game, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided,

special bonus DVD packed with premium content.
- Warhammer: Mark of Chaos ships - Namco announces that
Warhammer: Mark of
Chaos is now shipping, and the RTS game based on the fantasy tabletop
gaming series is now available in North America. There is a new
launch trailer for the game on
3DGamers,
FileFront, and
WP
- Epic Addresses Gears Of War Bugs, Patch In The Pipeline (Xbox 360) -
Epic promised that they are working on a patch to address these issues.
No specific date on the patch yet, but we expect it soon.
- PS3 Confirmed to be Region Free -
It
was confimed that the PS3 is region free: "NCS was able to test the
USA versions of Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Tony Hawk's Project 8 on the
Japanese PS3 and we confirm that both games boot and play perfectly. Kudos
to Sony for doing away with region locks. With only five Japanese PS3 games
available at launch, the availability of incoming USA PS3 games in the next
few days will be a welcome addition to the fledgling software library.
Please note however that PS1 and PS2 games are region-coded - USA PS1 and
USA PS2 games are not recognized by a Japanese PS3 and will not boot. "

although it's a good news, i wouldn't jump to the conclusion already that PS3 will be region free
there's been no official announcement about it... (now Sony's PR is indeed.. duh :p)
maybe it's just a glitch | |
