Film, TV downloads newly available via Xbox 360 - console
(hx) 04:04 PM CET - Nov,07 2006
Mission Impossible III is quite possible on the XBox 360.
In Xbox 360 related news, Microsoft has posted up a section of their Xbox website devoted to their newly revealed plans to offer movie and TV downloads for their Xbox 360 console. The section has some more movies and TV shows that were not revealed in the initial press release including TV shows like Friends, WonderShowzen, Studio 60, The West Wing and movies like Superman Returns, The Matrix, Batman Forever and Mission Impossible III.

The service, which will launch November 22 (five days after the launch of Sony's Play Station 3), will permit subscribers to download HD shows over the Net onto the XBox 360. They then can watch the programs on the high-def set. XBox Live will also offer non-HD programs, including shows from CBS and MTV. Microsoft says more than 1,000 hours of content will be available by year's end. But the company did not specify how many hours will be available in high-def.

Sounds like a pretty good idea, especially if it will work with Zune (other players are highly unlikely). However, I'd hate to think how fast that 20GB (which really about ~15GB free) will fill up with HD content. I guess an external HD will fix that problem, but that's hardly as elegant as something built into the unit.

Sony has issued a press statement that slams Microsoft's plans to have movie and TV downloads for the Xbox 360, with Sony saying that the move excludes people who get the Xbox 360 Core system that doesn't have the hard drive.

With the x360's 20 gig hard drive, {sarcasm} I'm sure you will get tons and tons of video {/sarcasm}. I bet they will come out with 100 gig hard drive soon. Or more, hopefully (not that it matters to me, but it would piss me off if I only had 20 gigs for music, movies, save files, demos, etc). Sony should be slamming them for that, more so than the point that people have a choice to buy the hard drive with the console, or later on.

hehe didn't know about this..

Though I do got to say, it does that you I have to goto my and move stuff between the two. What if I don't own a PC, because all I know is consoles. Wait..They make games for PCs? lol, not being serious of course, but just stating something that probably occurs more often than we think.

I think they just need to release other hard drives to the market. And maybe make a trade in program available for those that already spent 100$ on 20 gigs. Which is really...Pathetic really when you look at hard drive prices anywhere else in the market.

I agree, for convenience sake it would be nice to have a larger hard drive. I'm sure that news will follow soon. As for the PC thing you said, most everyone that has internet is going to have a PC. Most that have a console likely use a PC. Not many don't have a PC. Granted there is the exception of some just having console. But I think that number is quite low.
