Friday Reading - Vista system requirements - briefly|
| (hx) 09:47 AM CEST - May,19 2006 | |
TECH...
- Hardware requirements for Windows Vista -
Microsoft recommends 1 GHz
Intel-compatible processor, 1GB RAM, DirectX 9.0-Capable Graphics
Processor, with 128MB graphics memory*, 40GB HD with at least 15GB 'free
space'
- Windows Vista: A pre-beta 2 status report -
Windows Vista is very impressive
but it also has some serious problems that Microsoft needs to address
prior to release. How serious are the problems, read the whole thing and
decide for yourself:
- AMD releases Mobile Semprons for Socket S1 - Although overshadowed
by the Turion 64 X2 launch,
three new Mobile Sempron processors were introduced by AMD yesterday.
Bearing 3200+, 3400+, and 3500+ model numbers, the chips launched for the same
Socket S1 as the new dual-core Turions, suggesting a Rev. F core and DDR2
compatibility.
- MS patches Win XP Core Duo battery drain bug -
The patch fixes faster-than-usual
battery drains arising from the CPU's inability to enter Advanced
Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) processor idle sleep states as a
result of the USB 2.0 driver leaving "the asynchronous scheduler component
running continuously".
- MacBook Benchmarks - We already know that the
G4 are going to do far better than
their Intel counterpart on apps that aren't Universal Binary already.
- Creative explains X-Fi problems -
check it out
- Sagem HD-L26TP2, 26in LCD TV -
This TV features a built-in
digital tuner and a built-in hard disk video recording system
- Yahoo! Unveils Video Sharing Site -
The new video site
includes videos from around the web and a few from Yahoo! users as well
- Fast Food Nation Movie Trailer -
A dramatic feature based on
material from the incendiary book Fast Food Nation, a no-holds-barred
exploration of the fast food industry that ultimately revealed the dark side
of the "All American Meal."

- E3 2006 The truth behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - According to AtomicPC,
the
game is still on track and that the release will indeed be early next year. A
major development did however occur - around a year ago THQ brought in freelance
developer Dean Sharpe to transform the game from an undefined mess of
potential to a sprawling masterpiece. I gotta say though I'm not happy that the
RPG elements have been removed and that there are scripted sequences involved...
- Hitman: Blood Money Demo Plans -
The demo
will be available on Monday, May 22.
- Defence Alliance Moves To Red Orchestra -
The new version, DA
2.5, will be built entirely for Tripwire’s Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45,
using the SDK recently released through Steam. It will introduce a completely
new and unique gameplay.
- Gears of War Special on MTV Tomorrow - MTV2 will air Gears of War:
The Race to E3 tomorrow at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The special shows behind-the-scenes
looks at the Epic team as they decide what stays in and what gets cut from the
demo as the looming deadline hangs over them. Viewers will also get an inside
look at some personal drama lead designer Cliff Bleszinski faces, as well as a
peek at Mr. Microsoft himself, Bill Gates.

- Why Did Sony Remove Rumble From The PS3 Controller? - Sony's
explanation is that the new motion sensors in the PS3 controller prevented them
from adding rumble support. However,
this Gamasutra story suggests otherwise, stating that Sony's ongoing court
battle against Immersion Corporation may be the real reason.
- Wii Hide You Seek MMO for Wii -
Wii Hide You Seek brings a very basic concept into the picture. Its a
massive online hide and seek game, featuring numerous locations, such as a
Mansion, a neighboordhood, or even a city. It will offer many different ways to
play online.

| miglaugh | (04:59 AM CEST - May,20 2006 ) | | roger that, just need more 2gb sticks of ddr2 to come out, then couple those puppies with an fx-62 when that thing comes out and a nice r600 or whatever nVidia's dx10 chip is, and we'll be ready to rock and roll. | |
