ULi SLI Detonator Driver Patch Leaked - tech|
| (hx) 02:06 AM CET - Mar,01 2006 | | Last night, several websites started posting
direct downloads to a driver patch issued by ULi (1.67MB) that actually
patches current NVIDIA drivers force Detonator into thinking the M1697
Northbridge is an "SLI-ready" core logic. The driver detects if you are running
a ULi based motherboard, and then patches the Detonator drivers into thinking
SLI should work correctly. If a ULi chipset is not detected, the utility will
quit out with the message "ULi Chipset Not Found !!" Getting the driver to work
with other chipsets is probably just a matter of playing with a few registry
values. The utility claims that it only enables "ULi PowerExpress Engine," but
the end effect seems to be that SLI support appears in the Detonator control
panel. |

for a second I thought they were talking about the M1695 chipset and had managed to get PCI-e and AGP working together. But who cares if they can do SLI on a ULI board? Anybody not see this coming? The "statements" by nvidia saying no 3rd party boards would support SLI seems like a publicity stunt, otherwise why would companies have made boards with 2 PCI-e graphics slots if they never intended for SLI in the first place? But wait... ULI isn't a 3rd party anymore, they are under the umbrella.
zzzzzzzz
Wake me up when the Quad SLI boards hit production guys. | |
