But that's bs. The game was over hyped, over priced and it was too short :( MP suxors too.

- Reveals new secrets
Oh noes. Alyx is Gordons daughter. O.o

- Franchise of over 18 million units sold worldwide
Ummm. 18 million people got ripped off. Har Har Har!

- Incredibly advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Lawl. They aren't talking about hl2 are they?

- Highly detailed environments provide amazing gameplay settings
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo waaaaaay!

- Digital Actors: The most sophisticated in-game characters ever witnessed
That's cool. But the voice acting sucks.

- Physical Gameplay: Objects obey the laws of gravity, friction and buoyancy.
Max Payne 2 had bettor physics that actually made the virtual world seem realsies.

- Intense story line will appeal to those seeking more than another shooting gallery experience
Now I know they aren't talking about HL2.

i'm really not into HL2-bashing but ahem, yeah

"Incredibly advanced Artificial Intelligence",
when it has so often been (rightly) critisized
it's laughable

What about the price? I could pay 29.99 (CDN) fee. But I have a gut feeling that with those key selling points listed they'll make a 49.99 (CDN) fee sound like a bargain. :( I hate valve so much.

If they’d add more imaginative weapons it would be cool. Like a gun that rearranges the molecules. And it’d have one bullet only. Like the redeemer in UT. Y’know? Like have a sky-scraper level with bunch of evil fucks standing atop a glass ceiling and you’d turn them all into stone and they’d break through. Or… or… have them all implode with nifty visuals of a mini-black hole.

Like y’know. The physics gun is cool and all but it’s old now. I’d love to see a shrink gun in hl2. With like total environment control. How awesome would it be to like use the grav gun on like a small can then quickly switch to the shrink can and resize the can ten-fold and smash your opponents.

I miss innovations in today’s games. monolith brought something new with f.e.a.r. I just don’t know what since I haven’t beaten it or played it fully, but by knowing monolith they’ve always got new shit up their sleeves.

I’m rambling on. I was disappointed with hl2. It was repetitive

yessum, I don't quite understand your comments maybe you didn't understand the article? If you think you did please clarify the following:

yessum>
- Reveals new secrets
Oh noes. Alyx is Gordons daughter. O.o

They already "revealed" this in Half-Life 2 so why would it be a secret in the expansion?

yessum>
- Incredibly advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Lawl. They aren't talking about hl2 are they?

No, they are talking about the expansion as the article clearly states.

yessum>
- Highly detailed environments provide amazing gameplay settings
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo waaaaaay!

You haven't played the expansion have you? are you sure they haven't upgraded the environments?

yessum>
- Digital Actors: The most sophisticated in-game characters ever witnessed
That's cool. But the voice acting sucks.

Have you played the expansion? if so please tell me if I can get in on it, if you haven't then how do you know the voice acting sucks how have you heard the new characters speak??

yessum>
- Intense story line will appeal to those seeking more than another shooting gallery experience
Now I know they aren't talking about HL2.

Good you FINALLY figured that out did you? They are NOT talking about the original Half-Life 2 but this is about the expansion (though I'm sure 99% of it will be false I don't see how you can present these as facts) Thank you in advance for clearing things up.

yessum(05:21 AM CET - Feb,14 2006 )
KingArthur,

What the fuck?
HL2 expansion is still HL2. Just extra levels. An added bit to the story. It's still HL2!

It’s not a new level of game play.
It's not a different game.
It’s still hl2.

I don't know what you're talking about. You're thinking like HL2 : aftermath will be something totally new when in fact it's not.
It's still hl2.
NOT HL3

Think of it like matrix reloaded and matrix revolutions. They're one thing in total. Just released at different times. Visuals are the same. Story continues. Nothings' new. And it’s crap.

So, what the fuck? If this info was for SIN episodes then you'd be entirely correct and I’d be entirely wrong.

But this ain't the case. It's still HL2 just with new levels and more story.

Valve should release the expansions free. They aren’t worth the money. If aftermath concluded the HL2 saga then yes it’d be worth the amount of dough. But we all know the greedy fucks at valve won’t let that happen. Aftermath will end with another cliffhanger and we’ll wait months upon months for more levels and more lousy acting with nothing new and innovative.

So, thank you for being a total dick.

KingArthur(05:30 AM CET - Feb,14 2006 )
yessum,

How do you know all this? are you a magical pixie with the ability to travel into the future? or are you just blowing smoke out of your ass?

yessum(05:43 AM CET - Feb,14 2006 )
When has an expansion ever in gaming history for the pc upgraded the visuals to compete in the current visual market? Or when has an expansion ever in gaming history for the pc added more than the engine was capable off to compete in the current market for innovation + gameplay?

Umm. Nev0r.

Expansions only add to the story. They don’t improve the game. The can’t. Otherwise it wouldn’t be called an expansion.

What we've seen in HL2 is what we'll see in all HL2: expansions.
Nothing new in the visual department.
Nothing new in the game play department.
Nothing new from what we’ve seen in hl2.

Except for;
A continuing story.
Lousy acting.
A poor script.

Heck the game play, even though repetitive, is good for a once-through. No replay value in the single player what so ever.

After I beat hl2 I gave away my steam account to my friend. I was disappointed. I spent well over 60 dollars for the game. All I got was a weekend of repetitive single player and one Friday night of a shitty multiplayer.

HL: Source was a great improvement. It was worth a 2nd run through. It was just a great 'upgrade'.

Ps. HL2 visuals are now dated. :)

JDR13(06:07 AM CET - Feb,14 2006 )
yessum, just don't buy it. In the meantime, shut the F#%$ up.

right-o

I just hate blinded fanboys :(

JDR13(08:27 PM CET - Feb,14 2006 )
yessum, no one here is a fanboy just because we don't want to hear someone whine and dribble like an illiterate schoolboy.

I think you should STFU.

And remember something, a forum is a place for people to express their opinions and share them as well as their experiences. NOT WRITE THEM TO SUIT YOUR BELIEFS DUMBASS, OR SUGAR COAT THEM TO MAKE YOU HAPPY! LOOK at HL2, it's filled with cheaters, script homo's, obnoxious little kiddies with big mouthes, bunny hoppers! Ya CLASSY GAME! Pfff. And where is the support for anything NON-CS or NON-DOD? What does Valve do? ZIP. Why should they, the majority of their dumbass community goes with anything. I can't play a game like HL2 ignoring the fact that likely half the people on the server I am playing with cheat one way or another. Since it can't be proved except with a video which Steam moderators will remove from forums, ban people who discuss the cheats out there or complain about the lack of support. You can't have an opinion on Steam forums, you either get flamed or banned by someones bud who's a moderator. I play UT2k4, as far as I'm concerned requires more skill, is more secure and a HELL OF A LOT BETTER SUPPORTED. Then again, Epic has always been a classy company, unlike Valve.

As far as I'm concerned JDR13, you can go F yourself if you can't handle other peoples opinions, Fanboy, pfff where you learn that? Better than being a Fagboy boy like you, big mouth and no posts. You're a F'ing n00b here so honestly, STFU and get on a few more forums and get a clue.

XXXX, there is a rather large difference between someone stating there opinions for debate and a rant, guess which category your and yessum’s posts seem to fall into?

As for the “fanboy” remarks you come across as a particularly ardent Epic “fanboy” yourself.

Funny I thought these pages had stricter regulations but from what I just quoted it doesn’t look like it.

yessum(04:00 AM CET - Feb,15 2006 )
It doesn't matter who the fanboy is and who isn't. What matters is who the blinded fanboy is. Some people won't just accept the truth. Valve is a P.O.S. company. HL2 was a P.O.S. game. It sold millions because people A) bought xt ati video cards. b) People wanted to see what the 'hype' behind counter-strike source was. c) Valve lied like there was no tomorrow. There were some people who bought hl2 because they knew what they wanted. But that’s… like… 1.2 million people. :D

HL2 was full of trickery. AI was scripted. Everything was fake. I mean they didn't even have Gordon’s model ready when the game came out. I know the game was in first person but Gordon never casts a shadow, leaves a footprint of even shows his own reflection. Even if you ran the game in 3rd person mode. Where was Gordon’s skin?

:(

HL2 was a bull shit game. What bugged me the most was the obvious lack of innovation that valve promised. They said that they’d bring new standards into FPS genre after the release of hl2. I was disappointed. The game was very repetitive. It wasn't as thrilling as valve made it out to be.

Over all I was very disappointed with what valve brought to the market. I gave away my steam account. I'll illegally download the next chapter of HL2 unless the price is fair and it has a lot more added content (mainly new guns and atmosphere that really pushes sources engine to its limits)

xxxx(09:18 PM CET - Feb,15 2006 )
Where was the crowbar? much less Gordon's skin. The trademark weapon wasn't even in DM! It wasn't added for months! The game wasn't complete and people "were" playing a beta until nearly a year when Valve really put out some of the critical fixes. Even still there are missing critical patches since release.

I'll bet you the new addon is nothing more than another boring story with the same environment, same enemy and same weapons. Valve knows they can put out anything and idiot fanboy's will swallow it up.

They swallow up the cheat infested game as it is right now. In clans I was in, people were in denial over cheats. No there are no cheats, you are lying they said as I laughed back. I remember when I got pissed off and showed my co-Leader a video of me using the aimbot in both CS and DM.. No apology, but he was really pissed off and nuked his HL2... Kills me people are so naive to think HL2 is so secure to play on. I guess when I was recording the "This is a VAC secured server" that must have ticked him off. Was still funny and satisfying to show a fanboy his game isn't all it's cut up to be. Funny was, he didn't distribute the video to anyone, he just deleted it. I think he wanted to try and forget he saw it.

I still have a fully functioning legal copy of the game, I've used these cheats to help my friend test them and I can still play all I like. What can I say? I know people that write cheats and I'm priviledged to test them with them. Until Valve starts telling the truth and confessing the lack of security and integrity of their game, I'll continue having fun testing cheats with the people who write them for fun and by request.
