Nintendo Announces DS Lite - console

It seems that all the rumors were true. There is a Nintendo DS redesign in the works (translation), and now it has been revealed. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata today announced Nintendo DS Lite, a slimmer version of the best-selling Nintendo DS. The thing will weigh in at 218 grams, or about 60 less than the current one, its dimensions will be 133mm x 73.9mm x 21.5mm and it will cost about 16,800 yen, or about $145. The Japanese release date of the unit will be March 2, 2006. Nintendo will announce more information about the availability of Nintendo DS Lite in North America and other territories in the future.
