  • Xbox 360 sucks as a DVD player - Ars Technica reports that the Xbox 360's DVD player rather sucks: "I've thrown a few discs at it, with mixed results. The good news is that it is a progressive scan DVD player, and so far it has played every burned DVD I've thrown at it. The bad news is the video quality just isn't that great. On Episode 3 it looked decent, but my Samsung progressive player blew it out of the water. On other discs I noticed so very apparent dithering and artifacts in the black areas of the screen. While it's a nice bonus, don't expect this to replace a good DVD player in your home theater."

@360 news. Well, nobody goes out to buy a $500 console just to play movies with. Who really gives a rats ass. I got a Philips DVD player at home, it was cheap but at the same time it does Divx etc. I noticed what they are saying about Xbox 360 dvd playback, well most DVD players today suffer from this problem. Again, you pay $500 for a console it's for playing games, not rating DVD movie playback.

Yeah its made for playing games. But it would be really nice if it worked better . Really like it on the PS2. No need to buy an additonal DVD-player right now. But yeah, it might worn it out little more tho.
