Gears of War to use CoD2 type Health System - briefly
(hx) 12:04 AM CET - Nov,22 2005
IGN's Zero hour report reveals (thanks VE3D) that Gears of War will use a health system similar to Call of Duty 2:
Though the game was running in God mode to give everyone a fighting chance, it was still entertaining to see. In case you're not familiar, Gears of War is an Xbox 360 exclusive title set to release sometime next year. In it you'll participate in squad-based combat that features an over the shoulder perspective and requires you to effectively use cover. Once under cover you'll be able to peek around corners or flick your weapon, be it a machine gun or shotgun, into the air behind you to blast at foes. Perhaps the best bit of impressions that we can give here is that GoW's framerate has been really smoothed over and the game looked much more polished. This time also marked the first that we got to see the title running on a plasmascreen TV, which was decidedly sharper than the main projection screen Microsoft was using to demo the game to the rest of the crowd.

According to Mr. Blezinsky, the levels in Gears of War will have "no ice, no lava, no dropships, and no lesbian squadmates." He went on to state that there would be plenty of Easter eggs in the game, that the health bar would take after the one in Call of Duty 2, and that the enemies in the game, known as Locusts, are not aliens, but rather denizens of the inside of the planet. It was also indicated by Mr. Blezinsky and those working with him that a sequel to Gears of War was highly likely.

Yeah, what happened to Super Mario? I remember when i lost a life i was swearing and tossing that joystick arround cause i knew i only had 3 lives for the whole game. Man, was that fun or what? Doom3. That game scared me shitless, but it was monotonous. But i bet if it weren't for the QuickSave and QuickLoad i'd have 10x, no, 50x more fun with it. But this way, i must admit, i used quicksave after each and every monster i killed, and ulitimately finished the game practically without picking up one single medpack (despite the fact that i pwn j00 all in every Q3 engine powered game :O).

Are the developers trying to spoil us, do they make those health systems more "cinematic", or are the children of the new generations more and more retarded?

Now excuse me for this stupid comment. It's 3:30 AM and i can't sleep.

cheers
