Xbox 360 madness - part #1 - console|
| (hx) 12:58 AM CET - Nov,18 2005 |
- Xbox 360: Good, but not great -
The Xbox 360 goes on sale Tuesday, Nov. 22 and will cost either $299 for a
bare bones machine that will not allow you to play existing Xbox games or $399
for a fully loaded, backward compatible system (by far the smarter buy). It's
certainly a sleek piece of equipment, with enough technological oomph to make
even the most casual gamer raise their eyebrows.
- Don’t buy the Xbox 360, yet - The New York Post (via Fox News)
gives five reasons why the price sensitive should wait to buy the Xbox 360:
1) Too expensive. 2) Lack of games 3) Wait and see what the competition will
do 4) Hidden costs 5) Older consoles are not dead yet. The GameCube, PS2, and
original Xbox still have and will continue to have quality games for at least
6 more months.
- Condemned reviewed -
IGN has posted their review of Monolith's new Xbox 360 title, Condemned:
Criminal Origins for Xbox 360 which , which receives an overall rating 8.7/10.
In related news, XBoxyde has
101 screenshots
up.
- Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Xbox 360) -
Joystiq managed to spend some quality time trying out the multiplayer
component of Ubisoft's upcoming Xbox 360 title,
Ghost Recon 3:
Advanced Warfighter, at a world exclusive showing in the UK.
- Imperfect Dark Zero? - In order to guarantee Xbox 360 launch-day
availability of flagship title Perfect Dark Zero,
Microsoft sent the game to manufacture before it had passed certification.
- Japanese 360 launch to be devoid of RPGs - Despite Microsoft's best
efforts, however, three of the 360's most prominent RPGs, enCHANT arM, Tengai
Makyou Zirai, and Ninety-Nine Nights, have
all had
their Japanese release dates pushed back, creating a noticeable void in
the 360's launch window.
- Xbox 360 parental control doesn't work for Xbox games, patch needed -
It looks like
a patch
is in order for the Xbox 360 to enable parental control for non-360 Xbox
titles: "Because original Xbox games do not include the same encoded data
as Xbox 360 games, so the Xbox 360 will not be able to read ESRB ratings from
original Xbox games. A software release to enable the reading of the ratings
of original Xbox games will be availablea [sic] few months after the launch of
Xbox 360."
- Best Buy Stores to Open Early for Xbox 360 release - All U.S. Best
Buy stores will open at 9 a.m. local time, Nov. 22, for the release of the new
Xbox 360, Microsoft's next generation console.
