Quake 4 - First Impressions & Shots - briefly|

I just played the first four single-player levels of
Quake 4. I would say
that the game seems to be pretty damn good so far. Gameplay is pretty fast and
furious, they throw you into the action almost right away, and it doesn't let
up. If you like the "run and gun" style games this is it with great updated
graphics. Full review coming up probably this weekend/next week... |

Only one thing that bothers me; The FPS are WILD. It's like the vis portals in the game are in the middle of areas! You'd expect that when a door closes behind you, the vis portal closes, and the stuff behind you isn't getting rendered anymore, so the FPS jump up, but it's not the case in Quake4 :O. You have to walk to some unlogical point in the room for the portals to close. Check it out with "r_showtris 2" (without the quotes). That is so f***** anoying! |

I must admit I wasn't impressed with the last one but for $39 for Serious Sam looks a hell of a lot more worth it than Quake 4. I seem to get stuck playing the SS demo and it's actually much like parts of the original SS that I liked. I'm curious into the different mp modes of retail, before I think of buying it. I really liked the coop. |
