DoD: Source and Steam Update - briefly
(hx) 12:51 PM CEST - Sep,28 2005
A new Steam update was just recently released last night. The update addresses a handful of Day of Defeat: Source and Source engine issues:
Source Engine
- Fixed some video cards being incorrectly set to DX9 when they should have been DX8. This would cause a significant performance problem for affected hardware
- Changed refresh behavior of server browser. Old behavior was generating too much traffic when list was not open
- Fixed bug where VAC would sometimes hold onto .dlls after a game had been shut down completely
- Fixed a crash which could sometimes occur immediately after launching a game

Day of Defeat: Source
- Added the default mapcycle.txt to servers running Day of Defeat: Source
- Fixed crash bug when using %s in your player name

Source Dedicated Server
- Fixed bug in dedicated server engine that incorrectly displayed their anti-cheat status (servers were showing as insecure, but were running in secure mode)

So I guess support works like this. CS #1 importance, DOD #2 importance. DM 0 importance. Nice support.

Although you may be correct with your statement about VALVe’s priority with there titles when you take into consideration that CSS is still missing loads of fixes and additional content it should have been originally released with what does that say about valve support in general?

Not to mention the "Friends" feature of Steam.

As for DoD:S, 4 maps on release? I don’t really care about the ridiculous argument that it only costs $20 USD, does that mean these people that are satisfied with this substandard pap will just lap it up when CS:2 is finally released in a few years (if ever) VALVe can just sit back and laugh themselves silly by releasing a DIY title with no maps?

^^ Sorry if this comes across as a rant but I dont believe its an unfocused or undeserved complaint against VALVe.
